Do you have any idea how long it must take him to come up with his songs? And contrary to popular belief he actually mixes everything live. You don't need a turntable to be a "DJ" - which he says time and time again that he is not.
I agree with the not needing a turntable to be a DJ statement but him 'mixing' everything live isn't exactly accurate, using audiomulch in the way he does takes skill but its easy to line up all the samples you'll need in a set, so his mashups are following a set pattern, the 'live' element is arbitrary. The sampling is the hardest bit, his library of samples is immense, thats a definite love of music. His style is so unique its crazy hard to pinpoint.

Actually you are incorrect about itunes. The artist(s) on itunes that goes by girl talk is not Gregg Gellis. Common misconception, but like I said you can go to illegal art's website and download it for however much you want to pay which ranges from $0-infinity. I don't know what stores carry it though, I suppose some do if they want but it'll be hard to find.
i know a local record store sells the cd version, so if you find a place like that you can get it. i think you might be able to find it on vinyl as well, though i'm not sure why you' d want it

the end of this set was so epic. i was outside the tent stage right. watching everyone dance with the balloons falling, GT riding the inflatable boat into the crowd, seeing the people on the stage exit the tent so excited and happy to have been a part of it all. such a coachella moment

Coachella is a yearly event, a 3 day music and arts festival in Indio CA with an AWESOME lineup... many genres of music represented. I have gone every year ;)

I saw him at sasquatch in 2009, I felt like the ironic part about it was the fact that he could take a song that most people would claim they dislike, and you'll have a stage full of hipsters shouting out the lyrics when it's mixed. Its not a bad thing, and I appreciate that he doesn't specify the songs he uses by what he thinks is cool. He just uses songs that work.

I mean seriously, he this guy "mixes" kelly clarkson. Give me a fucking break. At least a real DJ might use a turntable. That at the very least takes a couple of months to master.

Do you have any idea how long it must take him to come up with his songs? And contrary to popular belief he actually mixes everything live. You don't need a turntable to be a "DJ" - which he says time and time again that he is not.

I agree with the not needing a turntable to be a DJ statement but him 'mixing' everything live isn't exactly accurate, using audiomulch in the way he does takes skill but its easy to line up all the samples you'll need in a set, so his mashups are following a set pattern, the 'live' element is arbitrary. The sampling is the hardest bit, his library of samples is immense, thats a definite love of music. His style is so unique its crazy hard to pinpoint.

@ryanc13377 He mixes it live, so it won't be the same as the album when you see him. I feel like remixes songs and switching out parts that quickly and seamlessly probably requires a good deal of skill.

Actually you are incorrect about itunes. The artist(s) on itunes that goes by girl talk is not Gregg Gellis. Common misconception, but like I said you can go to illegal art's website and download it for however much you want to pay which ranges from $0-infinity. I don't know what stores carry it though, I suppose some do if they want but it'll be hard to find.
