When he says gas, He means refrigerant as stated above. Such as R-12 which is no longer use due to EPA regulations. R-134A which is used in most vehicles now starting from the late 80's, and R-22 which will soon to be used.

@V8Jagnut Have you tried 12a refrigerant? I have to replace the A/C condenser in my Nissan Maxima since a rock hit it and I was debating whether to recharge with the original R134 or the cheaper supposedly colder blowing 12a?

So if your line break how can you repair it with out buying a new....is it any way of fixing it with getting a new one

if its the evaporator box (under dash) and leaking water? the drain is blocked. you can clean it from engine bay or under car. or is it leaking gas?

Thermal expansion valve. it regulates the liquid flow to the evap coil
