  • "tonight's not the sort of night for bed and dawn is not very far off"

  • This was far above my intellect and therefore it was lucky I grew up in the 90s.

  • this is the best kids show ever

sure as hell beats in the night garden and teletubbies

this is the stuff i grew up on

could of watched the other stuff but it was just shit this is real stuff

i'm glad the weasels are helping that's a nice touch

  • PAN NOT DEAD!

  • long life to PAN!

  • Lol I can't help but picture Count Duckula in the Wind in the Willows.

  • Not how I remember the book, but....

  • Wasn't that a bit rude of rat to say shut up toadie at 07:15. Also is that not appriopaite for a children's tv show.

  • This is a beautiful episode, so heart warming...

  • This show is simply wonderful and this episode is arguably the best of the best. David Jason has voiced so many great animated characters, Danger Mouse, Count Duckula - but I think Mr Toad is my favorite.

  • Anyone else brought here because of Pink Floyd? I love ginger beer..

  • I'm an American; and the comment re: the "dumbing down" of children's programing is spot on. This series lifted young minds to a higher level. It's up to the parents to insist on well produced, intelligent entertainment which also opens their children's minds to cultures other then their own.

I'm 52; and this is still my favorite episode, one of the few programs I allowed my daughter to watch as a child. Thank-You so much for posting this gem.

  • Rip Ian Carmichael

  • reading some of these comments makes me wonder.... americans dont seem to understand ANYTHING the characters are saying. probably why kid's tv has been so dumbed down now that everything is americanised

  • I heart Portly, yes I do.

  • This seems to be the only episode of this series to feature Otter, an important secondary character in the original novel as well as a figure who often seems to be removed from adaptations of the original story.

  • this is yet another series that my siblings and I loved and watched on the disney channel back in the early 90's. These bring back memories.

  • a baby otter, drinking ginger beer? this should be an educational show for adults.

  • Well, ginger beer is non-alcoholic. Unless you decide to add something to it yourself, of course. ;)

  • one of the nobs?!?

wow, kids cartoons were more adult back then

  • Well, "nobs" also means posh...as in "one of the posh nobs". Not the other kind of nobs... :p

  • this isn't a cartoon. it's a stop motion

  • @rayblack2004

Well this is English. Easily it means something totally different.

  • Pink floyd

  • My favourite of the series.

  • Lol, how's that for children education

  • I love this...I can remember this episode from my childhood.

  • Love it...

    :)

  • Thank you again for posting this wonderful show. Everyone must read chapter 7 from The Wind in the Willows ( you'll find it online ). It is a truly beautiful, magical experience- one of the sweetest things that I have ever, ever read.

  • The favour that Badger did to the Chief must have been helping him get out of that hunters' trap in "The Weasels' Trap".

Nice to have a reference to an earlier ep! :)

  • thanks for posting eh

  • otter is from africa right?

  • Aww, I love stopmotions like this, good times!

  • thank you for uploading this!

  • YES! THE LEGENDARY EPISODE! I've heard so much about this one.

  • Yeah, one of the few episodes of Cosgrove Hall's series that was based directly on a chapter from Kenneth Grahame's original novel. They did this because the 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn' chapter didn't make it into their movie version.
