This show is simply wonderful and this episode is arguably the best of the best. David Jason has voiced so many great animated characters, Danger Mouse, Count Duckula - but I think Mr Toad is my favorite.
I'm an American; and the comment re: the "dumbing down" of children's programing is spot on. This series lifted young minds to a higher level. It's up to the parents to insist on well produced, intelligent entertainment which also opens their children's minds to cultures other then their own.
I'm 52; and this is still my favorite episode, one of the few programs I allowed my daughter to watch as a child. Thank-You so much for posting this gem.
reading some of these comments makes me wonder.... americans dont seem to understand ANYTHING the characters are saying. probably why kid's tv has been so dumbed down now that everything is americanised
This seems to be the only episode of this series to feature Otter, an important secondary character in the original novel as well as a figure who often seems to be removed from adaptations of the original story.
Thank you again for posting this wonderful show. Everyone must read chapter 7 from The Wind in the Willows ( you'll find it online ). It is a truly beautiful, magical experience- one of the sweetest things that I have ever, ever read.
Yeah, one of the few episodes of Cosgrove Hall's series that was based directly on a chapter from Kenneth Grahame's original novel. They did this because the 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn' chapter didn't make it into their movie version.

this is yet another series that my siblings and I loved and watched on the disney channel back in the early 90's. These bring back memories.

a baby otter, drinking ginger beer? this should be an educational show for adults.
giantratinparis 2 years ago
Well, ginger beer is non-alcoholic. Unless you decide to add something to it yourself, of course. ;)

Well, "nobs" also means posh...as in "one of the posh nobs". Not the other kind of nobs... :p

The favour that Badger did to the Chief must have been helping him get out of that hunters' trap in "The Weasels' Trap".
Nice to have a reference to an earlier ep! :)
