All the Slow Hand wannabes need to learn there is no effect on emotion when you play fast. Lane, Holdsworth, Paco, Buckethead, Batio (yes he plays with emotion, try listening) and many others are all very emotional. Just because something is fast, it doesn't lose it emotional value.
@danukenator123 i agree highly with that statement, although I do think that writing too technically can get in the way of making a song emotionally valuable. Yngwie Malmsteen himself admitted that he only recently learned to play his own signature song "Black Star" emotionally and not just for the hell of playing it because it was hard, which I think is groovy, shows that indeed any song can actually possess whatever emotion you want it to, which is really the kinda awesome thing about music
I still prefer slash. Yes, buckethead is technically way better, but not everything needs to be a million notes per minute...there's a time and a place, and if you over use it it becomes redundant and boring. Not to mention although buckethead can play the song, slash and izzy WROTE it- and it kicks ass.
still one of the most impressive solos ever!!!

@99mmpick Right. Going a 100th of bucket's speed. >_>
deadlock365 4 months ago
@deadlock365 so if speed's the most important thing in music, why don't we listen to machines play?
tatemus1 4 months ago
@tatemus1 That has nothing to do with the two artists' speed.

@furialatino You make the stupid assumption that all buckethead does is fast aka "shredding" making your idiotic opinion even more stupid.
bIoodypingu 8 months ago
@furialatino Well, i'd have to say this solo was made for us people who love shreds... Slash caters to a different bunch of people
