  • Just love this tune...Glad to finally hear the original...always liked the Liverpool Five version but not the commercial take by Johnny Rivers and Al Wilson.

  • fantastic version, I love it¡¡

  • I saw him perform in West Hollywood at the Troubador in the early 60's. Loved his style. This was one of the songs he did. Years later I saw him again, but he had added Jean Pace to his performances. As I understood it at the time, he had ditched his wife and 14 children for Jean. He was a much better performer before she came along.

  • @a1joyce Not exactly - He had four children with his first wife and he and Jean had another three. He didn't ditch his first wife and he stayed married to Jean up until his death. He was always a mesmerizing performer with and without Jean Pace. He was an activist and idealist and a genius writer and poet. Check out the video of one of his last performances Def Jam Poetry Slam "I Aplogise" and see that he remained a devastating presence into his 70's.

  • I saw him perform this in Greenwich Village in the 1960s, and it remains vivid in my memory,

  • I think Al Wilson had the semi-hit version.

  • Oscar Brown Jr....was an unsung artistic genius!!!!

  • @audreyb40 OB Jnr was a genius. That Liverpool Five version is a knockout..they were the first rock band,( American or English, to really appreciate his material.

  • Absolutely fantastic version by Oscar singing his own composition. The best other version I have found on You Tube is by theLiverpool Five . Well worth checking out.
