It shouldn't really matter when you're deciding whether to listen to a band or not...but sometimes it's cool to know a band's influences. Often times religion is a large part of determining the way someone expresses themselves whether it be through subconscious or conscious thinking. O_o Someone could say they relate better to Christian (buddhist, muslim, or whatever) influenced music just because their religion is a big part of their lives too. It has more to do with relatability than anything.
