This beautiful Lutheran Christian Passiontide Hymn was written by St. Paul Gerhard, with music by his friend St. Johann Kruger. Some of the Christian art depicted is also by Lutheran saints.

in this movie is not byzanthyn art..if you want to seee byzantin art check Andrei Rubliov,Theofan the greek ..and others..the catholic art is not spiritual ..it represents person like simple people not like something sacred!

Catholic Art NOT SPIRITAUL...Are you crazy!!! Most of the Western world has been inspired by the Catholic Church and its art (music and paintings). What has the orthodox faith given the world compared to the TRUE church? Remember you guys ran away from home in 1000 AD :-) Bad children!

@Randy02116 The "Orthodox Faith" is the Catholic Faith is the Lutheran Faith is the Christian Faith. You Papists walked out of the house in 600 AD....with the "Eastern Orthodox" following you soon afterwards....and you were both running a full sprint away from Home by 1054 AD! HERETICAL SEPARATED BRETHREN! :)
But millions of Papists began to return to the TRUE PROTESTANT CATHOLIC FAITH, by the time God raised-up St. Martin Luther as THE GREAT REFORMER & DOCTOR OF CHRIST'S CHURCH! :)

love this song! the first part of this song played in Kingdom of Heaven when Saladin killed Reynald de Chatallion by his tent after he said,"I did not give the cup to you!" lol, i just watched that movie a couple hours ago! haha, very good movie!

I had to sing this twice on Palm Sunday as well as Good Friday. At my parish, this is sung at stations of the cross. we sung this at the veneration on good friday service until 10:00 p.m.
