did you compress the bp enough i noticed when i took apart an Estes that the bp was really highly compressed i had to grind it up because it was rock hard in the shape of the tube also are you using the right bp comp

you need to make a paste and pack it in without any air gaps so it drys like one big lump then it will burn slower and not go bang
