My theory is that the coils go into a self oszillation mode ( back EMF) or so.

The faster pull of will cut this and will free the energy in it cuz the oszillation stops emidiately. If i am right a magnet near this should vibrate at a very high frequenz, but i think it is not mesurable.... but if someone finds a way to do it... we are the right guys! :-]
@TheUFOeffect: F=MA, mass is constant. as you pull it up faster your increasing the A so the net force gos up. Work=FD, distance is constant but you increased the force so the work or watts is increased.
in other words...whats needed is the magnetic equivalent of a mosfet / transistor... in that a mosfet allows or doesnt allow current to flow.....we would need a device which allows or does not allow magnetic flux to flow.
i can only think of one way to do this perhaps..and that would be using a toroid in the magnetic circuit at right angles...pulsed so that it breaks the path of the flux in the U bolt... ill do a sketch and email you.

look up a youtube user Crobb227, he shows a pmh, then he shows using a papewr clip on the one end of U bolt.. sticking to it....but on the other end of the U bolt....no magnetic attraction.....a magnetic monopole?
as to how to "use" this, problem comes with breaking the connection using physical force = work done..need to replace the "physical break"..with the same way that a transistor replaces an electrical switch
