The game itself looks stunning, but the gameplay and combat system look awful....Still going to give it a shot though...Download is about halfway done.
I love hanging out with this MMO. Great music, combat, beautifully rendered Conan universe, smooth animations. The art work overall is excellent. This vid is of Tortage the starter area, but all the others are done with the same attention to detail.
@GamersRenaissance ridiculously demanding of a 10 hour installation requirement and the fact that kaspersky hates this game making it unplayable could be a reason. It literally took me and entire Saturday to figure out how to make it work properly. Most people don't have such patience. The game isn't actually that bad and it has reasonable voice-acting in it. It's sad that FunCom seem to be mistreating it now.
@Urgiapain I hate kaspersky so much lol. Such a high false positive rate! Lol it thought league of legends was spyware/ keylogger. Have you ever thought of going with microsoft security essentials? It can hold its own with some top brands. It is sad that FunCom doesn't seem to care as much anymore. Such a fun game :P

Kaspersky saved my butt multiple times, so I just figured a way around it. Turn security off and play. They are patching the game now by the way... hope they don't completely break it. They claim it's a hotfix patch...
Are there lots of people still playing this? I'm looking for a free MMO to get into but don't want to jump on a dead horse, and this looks the best in every aspect..

IMHO Age of Conan is a mere shadow of what it could have been. Game play is quite different from other MMO's for melee characters (my main is a 70 barb haven't tried Ranger yet - but for 50 something HoX and 20 something Necro, casting is like in all other games :/) - in a good way, graphics are really good (if you have the hardware to run them), and the music is great.
But - there are some things that drive me insane...
@allle11 AOC's gfx were inconsistent though. Sometimes it was so beautiful sometimes it was just like mud...GW 2 seems to have amazing gfx + consistent style. Don't get me wrong, I loved AOC but it is a bit meh now
@allle11 Actually there is Funcom have been working on a new MMORPG set in a real world setting with myths&legends and the game is going to use the same engine :) check out their latest trailer. watch?v=YqJLOjiXHjk
@allle11 SWTOR has better if you max it out. The game itself is kind of 'meh', but the graphics are nice. Tho you have to hacve pretty good rig to run it and it might still be lagging because Hero-engine is buggy at the best.
@allle11 If you think the graphics of AoC are better than upcoming MMOs, you haven't looked into upcoming MMOs much. Hell, even SWTOR looks better than this, and the engine they use is junk.
do u think this is playable without a graphics card ? i have windows 7 but to be honest i dont even know if i have a card in there or not i could lower the graphics and all that would it play ? i play other free online games and they work fine hmm
@SuperRandomshit101 all computers have a graphics card, or you wouldnt be able to display anything, just check your display adapter in the device manager on windows 7 and check what you have.
age of conan is wunderfule if you got a computer good enough for the game :p
the game has the best contents and detelited envioerment i ever seen before. but the gameplay it is a bit different from other mmos, but thats a thing i like it dosent feel like just another world of warcraft copie :p
@allle11 guild wars 2 seems to have some better graphs now :) i think its proly the best in the world atm...but it is coming out late 2011 so ofc it would be a bit better
@deenman23 You are joking right? Gw2 doesnt even come near aoc's graphics, what he showed here is only tortage, the main start city, there is more in aoc than only tortage.
@allle11 on pen and paper, this game is perfect. Its flawless. but people dont want a perfect game. People say they want something fun, intuitive, and thats epic, but really they want a grindy boring game all about material items.

I rly wish i had a pc that could handle AoC with max graphics. Currently running with almost everything on minimum, making the game pretty ugly..

For example:
-how long it takes for the client to prepare,
-random lag spikes,
-two handed weapons floating after you.
-mounted combat is no more than swinging your weapon (can't use skills)
-cloaks are nothing special, they act like they do in most other games
-a lot of clipping issues
The graphical content is of course not too important, but in a game that was even going to have scabbards, I wish they could resolve these issues.
Still, a good game and lots of fun!
