I did some Miller's Outpost commercials sometime between 1977-1979 as well as some LA County Fair Commercials during that time. Would be really cool to see them again or show my son. Does anyone know how to find old commercials from that period of time? I was the Miller's Outpost girl before the two cowboys (J.R. & Homer).... ;) Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)
LoL, Miller's Outpost. Classic. Something tells me that while taping TORA TORA TORA someone forgot to press STOP or PAUSE during the commercial break, hence this "happy accident" that comes in handy 20 years later when you start reminiscing about the good ol' days. Remember that? Trying to create "seamless" recordings on your VHS recorder while taping from the TV?
Remember how they decorated Miller's Outpost with a little wild west town on the walls?
I remember being a little kid and staring at those little saloons, and jails and buildings while my mom was trying to find me Levi's in size 12 slim on the clearance rack.
I think that the Miller's that we would shop at was by the Old Towne Mall in Torrance.
classic man i use to get my levis there to i like the old western theme for a long time they had one in south gate ca on tweedy now its a d discount i use to go to the one on pacific in huntington park anchor blue will never be the bad ass millers out post i remember the little western ghost town they had in the store
Anybody remember Miller's Surplus? On E Street in San Bernardino, CA, Miller's used to be an army surplus store in the early 1970's. I still have ammo cans and fishing line with the old price tags! They sold lots of Levi's and camping gear.
After the surplus scene faded out, "Lou Miller's Levi's & More" offered clothing instead.
Later the same location was a Miller's Outpost outlet store as Miller's Outpost became a houshold name.
The E Street location is now an Asian fish market.
Really? I haven't been up there in forever. I remember as a kid being dragged to that location for school clothes. Then we would dash in to the pet store that was right next door to C&R Clothiers for fish supplies.
I remember the Miller's Outpost in Pico Rivera Ca, on Whittier Blvd. I'ts a Hollywood Video now.I was surprised to see the Chino or Upland store up still a few years back,I was surprised to see it.
My Dad actually took me to our local Miller's Outpost here in Chino, CA and low and behold the cowboys were there! I got both their signatures on one of the Miller's Outpost posters...in fact I still have it today and keep it in my garage with my other childhood things.
I worked at one for two years. I guess the cowboy hick thing could'nt survive the 90s. We did have the western theme houses which they took down before I left. To modernize the look I guess. I didn't ask questions back then. I was a teenager.
They actually had hundreds of stores throughout the southwest/west. I got to acompany the cowboys in a limo on some grand opening events in Sacramento CA back in 1985 (about) because my dad was the VP. The cowboys (bob & fred) are really cool guys. It was too bad that dutch family bought the company in the early 80's from Dave Miller and eventually ran all the great people out of the company and of course ran the company into the ground.
The blond/red haired guy still lives in Rancho Cocamonga, I met them several times had a few friends that worked for millers at the corp. office at HUB. I live in Upland, man they were funny.

My first job was in 1994, and minimum wage was still $4.25 an hour.

@mikeym820 Crazy. My 1st job was at Universal Studios Hollywood in the Summer of 1997 and minimum wage was $4.75 then! Not much of an increase! :-(

Look at those prices! Remember when clothes cost that little?
Of course, it seemed like a lot of money at the time. Back in the 80s, minimum wage was $4/hour.
