Tell me, i've never actually played this game but seeing in many reviews saying how nightmarish this game is, is it absolutely true that sticking the cartridge itself into the NES is an accomplishment? I mean, i can't really call a game bad if i've never played it myself, but seeing the controls and everything acting so broken makes the entire game look virtually unplayable. Is it true that even looking at the cartridge or maybe even hearing the games name triggers the horrors of experience?

I heard a rumour behind this game being so bad is that the game designers were a family (literally) but they hated eachother, so when the designer of each game was away from the computer, the others fucked up their games making them glitchy, unstable or flat out boring. So had the games been designed by people who actually want to work together, it may not have been half bad. Still it probably wouldn't have been worth the $199 price tag but it may have had some decent games. But, it's fucked up.

@ProManUnitedFan Well, I've heard, from (one of the old developpers) that the developing were done by three kids out of high school who did most of the programming, graphics and music (and they weren't eve credited anywhere. They were fired shortly before the game was shipped) . They were given only 3 months to make 52 games (an impossible task, if you ask me).

The guy who told this mainly worked on the music (most of the music that hasn't been plagiarized came from him. The stuff has been plagiarized after he was fired). He now composes for iPod apps (or so I heard).

If they gave it a lot more time and worked long and hard on this, it could have been halfway decent. If they thought up better plots, played some good games and got inspiration from them (By including similar gameplay and good controls). How about that?

@ProManUnitedFan Well, in game developing, when you're given a contract, you have to respect it (and Active Entertainment, who hired them, didn't seem to have a fine grip on reality).

And beside, his music was actually pretty good (the worst music in Action 52 was plagiarized after he was fired). I once looked on his website and he does good stuff (not counting that on the NES, you have to manually program each note in the game code, unlike today).

Interestingly enough, a bunch of students from college that were trying to get degrees in computer programing were actually hired to program Action 52. That could explain why this game is so gitchy. It also proves that Mediocre games like Sonic 2006 could have been like action 52 if they didn't have redeeming aspects in them.

Raul Gomila was hired by Vince Perri to program the game.Gomila actually used to run a piracy agency selling bootegged multicarts for the Hong Kong,Phillipines and Taiwanese market(explains, alot doesn't it?) You see, Perri started AE for the sole purpose of selling his TMNT ripoff "Cheetahman" idea, as a quick cash in, Perri decided to ram a bunch of min games into a NES cart. Gomila didn't have access to a NES development kit, so he used an old Atari ST.
