The line in the beginning saying all people are created equal kinda lets shimmer through that later on they're not any more. This could be the worst hidden separatist remark I've ever seen, or a plain unfortunate choice of words. Amazing touching song either way.

jrod112278 i agree partly with your answer, things are not usually as black and white, but proportionally speaking the US has had far more weight in these problems then these repressive govts you speak of. Half of them were American backed, the pre 1979 Iranian govts, Saddam Hussein was hugely backed by the US during the Iranian-Iraqi war (a war to get iran back after its revolution) etc. Im not saying its all the US'fault, but you have to admit it has pulled alot of that weight upon itself
