  • When he played this live I was blown away, shame that Steve White isn't with him anymore!

  • yeah 911 was pretty bad but please dont use the best british man to ever live in an american video no offence R.I.P 911 Victims

  • @MrTeamTactical I understand your sentiment, but Weller took this little video on tour with him during his 22 Dreams tour. He thought it was bloody brilliant..doesn't matter where we are in the world, we are the same. Written for the Bosnia conflict, but his words live in all countries all men.

  • 1:43-4:10

The different in place is nothing compared to the pain they both shared.

The reasons that it happened is nothing to the innocence they both shared.

    They didn't deserve it.

  • Paul played this in Sherwood Forest one rainy summer night, June 26, 2005. Do you remember, My Darling?.

  • Thanks, I like what you did, the song and the imagery make sense for me 'now nothing feels the same way...'

  • Sorry but I just don't get the idea of a British icon's song backing a set of American Tradegys, sad as they may be this song has fu*k all to do with 911 or JFK etc...

    Nuff sed.

  • @Shagnarsty This song was written for the Bosnia conflict..but as Weller said himself the song has to do with the senselessness of war/violence. Doesn't matter if it takes place in Europe, America, Asia etc...the feelings expressed in this powerful song are for all of mankind.

  • @highvibration After reading Nasty Shags ankle-deep comment I was going to respond with almost your exact same words. This powerful song and partnered video epitomizes an unmistakable facet of the human condition. Great work.

  • @Shagnarsty fair comment but he used the footage of jfk 911 live - i didn't get it either at the time - it's all a bit U2

but he wrote it it's his etc

  • @Shagnarsty I agree but if the lyrics are apt and it's been adopted because of that then fair enough.. Great song in it's own right and if people take comfort in that then all the better in my opinion

  • From a huge Weller fan, you have just got a subscription from this video, disturbing imagery, but, poignant

  • JFK once said ''we either stand together as humans or die alone as fools'' correct me if i'am wrong.

  • my favourite song of all time put together with an incredibly powerful video with absolutely perfect extracts of quotes from some of the most influential people across the world for both war and peace. fucking marvellous video. thank you.

  • puts into words how I feel better than I ever could have spoken..

  • powerful images of powerful peaceful people with a powerful song..

  • I still regard this song as Paul's 'Flagship of the fleet', and THIS is 'the' video that shall ALWAYS complement it.

  • @whirlpoolzend Thank you! Somedays I don't want to get up, the world is such a _ucking mess. Then I hear a song that shows the beauty and potential of human beings, I missed Weller this time around in LA, my head was not there but my soul

    was.

  • @whirlpoolzend wellers best tune, maybe from his best album, i like the studio version best cause of the bit at 4.24

  • My fave PW track and an amazing montage to go with it - well done for sharing! ;-)

  • your mum and dad must be so proud of you. Everyone who watches this cannot be moved bt its intensity, show it to the embassys of the west see them hang their heads in shame.A true masterpiece, you are a friend of mine comrade.Be safe take care xxx

  • coulnt we all as one try to get enough money together. And pay channel4 to play this at prime time tv in between programmes? im sure if we had enough conviction,we could get the intersest of certain high profile individuals to participate.JUST A THOUGHT.carla had one ,lets embrace her talent.

  • the only thing that pisses me off & it has done for several years now is the fact so few people have taken the time to listen to this song & WATCH the video . I think it"s disturbing that people watch absoloute crap & here is the true poignancy of life being ignored by so many it saddens me great job bye Paul Weller & what a video .I keep returning to this video year in year out it keeps me grateful for what i have but so sad for what so many lost !!!!.

  • @chamomile21000

You couldn't of said it better Paul, ten thumbs up :)

  • If you want peace, stop waving flags. JL

  • My Favourite weller song and what a strong video they have put to it

  • respect

  • respect

  • We far outnumber those that don't want it but we just won't come together; so, just keep reaching out, saying, 'hi', smiling at passers by and already the world is a better place.

  • This video is Amazin, it brings a lump 2 my throat & it really makes u think!!!!!

  • Still an inside job though!!!

  • sent shivers down my spine.

  • Why oh why ?

  • Why oh fucking why ?

  • I still haven't found a video more poignant or pertinent than this on the whole of YouTube.

After many viewings, I still get watery eyed.

  • Thank you. Your comments mean alot. I'm alwayd left with the message of the girl at the end, holdinhg up the Lennon sign, "Remember Love". Thats what the world needs to re discover.

    Peace my friend! Carla

  • nice man uploaded it on my bday good man

  • awesome track

  • Love the song, I'm young and I still love Paul Weller hes amzin and he changes the world with his beautiful music ♥

  • Yep,Kudos well done!

  • EXCELLENT CARLA X BE SAFE

  • ive never seen a record put together so brilliant.and as for wellers lyrics and music i think the man would be very proud of you have done man .you have talent and morals keep it up and dont be swayed by the likes of me eith no PUNCTUATION HAHA .

  • the vid is brilliantly done & relevant, & gives the song extra poignancy. x

  • Thanks for sharing!

    5 stars!

  • this video is mind blowing. it fits like a glove with the song too. it's one of weller's hidden gems off stanley road. absolutely superb! well done carla!

  • thing it reminds me of now are the gigs i seen in november people looking towards the ground etc and quite a bit of silence at times it had an effect on people which to me is maybe people realising certain things ... " nows the time to change your mind for free"

  • Indeed Gordy.! We must change..and now is the time, and we need hope. Love Weller's sentiment on "Standing Out In The Universe"..a great bookend to "Whirlpools End". Did you see Weller won Mojo Album of the year (22 Dreams). He is an amazing man...

  • aye another well deserved award for a true legend :)

  • Gets to me every time Carla, every time.

  • Indeed. When does the artist become so incorporated into his songs that we feel connected to the human that created such power? I've been listening to Standing Out In The Universe, everyday, for the past 4 mths. It feeds me hope. Listen to it again & again. I envision the whole planet singing that song. Its not Americans, Russians, Iranians, etc.,it's the world, all of mankind spinning on this earth of ours. "Hope is where you lift your head, written in the dawn/" PW

  • Anybody with a beautiful were all

bumped off. Anybody brave enough to

stand up are killed off. ie Che Guevera.

Weller one only the few left.

  • The near end was so sad...JFK says something inspiring, in retaliation, we're told he's shot dead. MLK talks about freedom and hope, very next day, he's dead too. RFK is victorious, probably the future president--and next minute he's lying on the floor in his own blood. And John Lennon--not even a politician, just wants peace--he's dead too. And the chance to come together and prove our worth after 911 is ignored in favor of petty revenge. What is the world coming to?

  • holy poo damn terroists :( great song sad video

  • Oh my god i had never seen this vid til now. One of my fav tracks of all time. This video is incredible! Tks for posting.

  • it aint much to ask for is it ? all we ask is that we can tolerate each other and move on as humans together peace and love always

  • i was at the rds to and i agree with everyone who was there and posted a comment here!

  • A VERY MOVING SONG

  • I saw this video first when i saw Paul play live at the RDS in dublin.....the song and the vieo grabbed ny attention completely then and to this day whirlpools end makes the hair on my neck stand up.....this is a powerful song accompanied by some of the most powerful images the eye will ever see....

  • i saw this first played behind paul while he played whirlpools end in the RDS in dublin......it definitley hit me then and to this day the song sends chills up my spine.....powerful song accompanied by some of the most powerful images the eye will ever see

  • Out of all the videos that I have seen on YouTube, this for me is the best. x

  • Thank you ! Merry Christmas, lets hope the new year is filled with HOPE.

  • What a tune! The images really go well with Wellers lyrics

  • That was supurb. The Cafe Owner told me to check it out. Glad I did. Thank you.

  • WOW! Awesome! not seen this vid before!!!! thanks for sharin Jas!!!! *****

P.S. any one else noticed we've gone into wide screen!!! ;-)

  • Cheers Genntre, it's well worth seeing.

Yeah wide screen now...whooo hooooo :)

  • Cheers for uploading highvibration. Weller played this at the end of the Birmingham gig here on Friday....leaves you speechless. An excellent way of putting the message across. Makes the hairs on your arms stand up.

  • awesome ! words fail me too jason , thanks for sharing . wow !

  • I was at the Cardiff gig, and the video was awesome. Very powerful message, played behind probably the best songwriter Britain has witnessed. Shall remember the moment for the rest of my life.

  • Why is it you Brits have some of the greatest songwriters in the world? It puzzles me here in the US I mention Paul Weller and most people don't even know who he is. What a shame. Those of us that know him (Jam!) and follow him know this man is a gift to us all. You Brits must be proud!

  • Quality thanks mate! Played it at Brixton last night - awesome.

Check out whirlpools end manchester 18 nov 08 for a live view of your handiwork

  • Thank you, that will probably be be only chance I get to see this video Live. It is now in my Favorites.

  • very very proud of weller especially,he has written my lifes background in oneway or another, hes british to the core, genius in every sense of the word,so in touch with whats goin on in the world ad around him and has a grea way of exprssing himself,he never madeit big in america as you afore mentioned, ashame really but dont think its ever really bothered him, possibly because most of his music youd have to be english to get it..more so the jam and the style council.you have good taste!!

  • This was played on a massive backdrop to the gog at Cardiff on the 20th Nov. Whirlpools end was played live in front of it.

It had a very powerful impact on those watching.

  • Really moving. Looks like Weller found it moving as well. Have you been to see your video at one of the live gigs? If yes, what was it like?! If not I hope you do get to some time!

  • Very moving. Looks like Weller was moved as well. How exciting to have your video played at his gigs! Congratulations! Have you had a chance to see your video at one of the gigs? If yes- tell us about it!

  • No I have not seen it on the big screen at any of the shows. So I look forward to the feedback form the people who have seen it! So surreal.

  • Saw him last night at liverpool,

This video was on, Left me speechless.

    Cheers.

  • Liverpool! This was the city I would of loved to of been at. John Lennon was woven through this video, ending with Lennon. How was the reaction? Could you hear Lennon's words? Lennon and Weller...damn!!!

  • saw him in nottongham last night.....the crowd were in awe at this, and it provokrd a lot of conversation.....good work to both of you! amazing.

  • my last comment didnt get on! all I said was everyone should watch this and well done Paul!

  • I wish that this video is played all over this crazy world of ours. Paul Weller is a hero to support your video, Thanks!

  • Thank you too! The world is is need of some hope. So many brilliant people have died in attempts to make this world a better place. They live on in our dream for a better world. Lennon...can you hear us!

  • just saw this last night on the backdrop at weller concert in Newcastle. I was having a brilliant time singing along at the encore - broken stones and then this!!!!. It just stopped me in my tracks and all the people around me. It was so powerful!!!. I just became silent , I was in tears. 40 year old bloke. Then cover version " All You Need Is Love".

    Absolutely fantastic job highvibration

  • absoultley brilliant interpration seen it being used last night live for 1st time in glasgow, both worked grat hand in hand

  • Using it on the whole tour mate. Was there first night at Crawley - I knew it as I'd seen it here. Fucking chilling and poignant. Be proud mate.

  • Saw The BRILLIANT Paul Weller play this song live last night in Dublin. After seeing him live too many times to mention it was only last night I saw Whirlpools End (My favouirte Weller track)live. He used your video on a massive backdrop. Brilliant interpertation on the song which Weller obviously agrees with. Fantastic job.

  • I'm crying...thank you.

  • You beat me to it. I saw this in Dublin and thought it looked strangely like a clip I'd seen on Youtube. Nice one!

  • This is fantastic and a credit to you. I adore the song and Paul Weller but you have taken the song and given it an edge with such visuals and of course realism. It brings it alive and makes a huge statement. Thank you.

  • Nice editing, great video. Like the synchronisation with the lyrics, great choice of song one of Weller's greatest I think. Nice to see that there are Americans who can see the bigger picture!

  • i fear for boraka this world wants peace the average man and woman in the street couldnt give to shits what colour or religeon you are ,but the powers that be are intend on instruction from the religeous and bigotted hatred they see as the truth its fuckin bollocks

  • That was amazing, and no amount of propaganda will ever convince me war is necessary. I have sons, and they will never be cannon fodder for corrupt meglomaniacs. Peace.

  • this is brilliant

considering the song was written about terrorism as well, brilliant video.

It actually made shivvers go up my spine, great job!

  • Nice vid. Well done and Weller???? Well he is nothing short of a genius. Not many Weller fans here in the States. RFK and JFK. Both bigtime hawks. A little surprised they are here as both were advocates for a strong military deterrent. I happen to agree to a point, but war is a racket and always will be. Very few worth fighting. THe current Iraq cluster fu-- is a perfect example. Anyway....very nice work.

  • Remember Bobby Kennedy was against the war, and was running on the anti-war platform against LBJ. That was huge, Bobby running against an incumbent Democrat. LBJ subsequently dropped out of the race, and Bobby was killed. Bobby was totally committed to ending the Vietnam war. We will never know what would of happened, Bobby was a good man, not perfect, but a good man.

  • P.S. I'm a war protester, just for the record. A really annoying one at that. If I had a record of all the letters I've written to senators...

    Brilliant video !

  • I know you've already worked it out, but this is Carla's work not mine (Oh I wish!)

I believe it to be simply the most superb video on YouTube.

It took me three attempts before being able to watch it fully without pausing.

    The tears obscured my eyes.

  • thank you for your oh so kind words whirlpoolzend. Wellers music inspires all of us.

  • Wow! You got your handle from a Paul Weller song? I LOVE him... have since I was a perky teenager. I followed him through his days in The Jam and even The Style Council, but sort of lost track after that. He still sounds great. And this is creepy, because I was just in Manhattan last week. The absence of the towers still freaks me out...

  • WOW

  • Just watched this and I have to say......WOW....weller rules as we all know but to hear 'Whirlpool' acompanied by the images of the video was thought provoking and raised so many emotions.....Lennon, Weller, kennedy, Gahndhi....they can't all be wrong. IT'S TIME FOR PEACE!!!!

  • Great song,Great Video .

    Nice One

  • enteressante

  • This is an awesome and educational video! Is there ever going to be an end to this? Will life persist?

  • This is a fine piece of work.

  • it is always the defenseless that get to bear the burden...

    excellent video

  • Excellent comment.

  • does anyone know who that father and son that were murdered in this video are buried. im so emotional about this .does anyone know there names and the insignificant piece of shit that took there lives

  • They can bomb the world to pieces

But they cannot bomb the world into peace

  • WOW!, a very powerfull film!

  • ure right wat is goin on with the world?

  • Excellent...

  • This is a true Masterpiece.

  • both brilliant pieces of work,

    Wellers song & your video.

one of the best on YouTube,

its a shame more people have not seen this.

  • the best piece of art and music ive ever seen u tube deserves awards for this

  • best tune he has ever made goes withe the film so well

  • the sight of that young boy terrified and then dead will haunt me forever. may the bastard that shot him look into his mothers eyes and say SORRY

  • the above comments says it all.weller is 2b commended 4 this portrail of how much mankind can be so destructive and inhuman.the world has changed since i was born 1962 so much hatred to 1 another

religion? ban it now! what other reason wud we have 2 take life.

  • I try to steer clear of polotics and religion, they are the cause of all wars!! I surpose every day is a personal battle for each of us, cause we are all the victims of an ever growing violent society and all we can do is to help educate the younger generation...

  • It's to late for the people who are happy to live life day by day, just getting by, going to work to pay bills and stress about making others money!!! I will spend all my creative time with my children and teach them my values and show them the T Mac P way.

  • thats nice good on you best of luck man

  • god help us all

  • We are indeed our own worst enemies and it will never end, until it ends for us all!! I am drawn to this video, I can't believe how bad things have become out there! All we can do, is be at peace with ourselfs and those around us.... One love to you all, T Mac P

  • It's an eclectic mix of tragedy and the sorry story of all the individuals, who tried to make the world a better place! In London this year 30 young people have been murdered in the space of a few months because of what the younger generation call respect, respect is giving your seat up on a bus for a pregnant lady to sit down, It's the common courtesy that our parents taught us as children. I think they need to see this and realize that there are bigger issues and problems in the world

  • i totally agree with ure sentements but why isnt che guevara in the video. ernesto shaped the world of intollerence and he demanded freedom for all mankind and the end of imperialism world wide . nothing has changed .imperialism is rife the usa are a bull in a china shop .we are the china.

  • Why have I only just discovered this?

I had to stop it twice am moved to tears.

    Stunningly superb.

  • Brilliant, everyone man, woman and child should watch this.

  • Extremely well done. very impressive.

  • this is amazing,

the way you had the lyrics macthing the right scene.

seriously , this is well good - some shoudl play it on TV to make everyone realise that the most famous peace makers have all been killed.

  • the world is crashing around us & god knows how it will stop spinning out of control people should help people not hurt people

  • powerful and moving. thank you!
