I could be like hunkie and say horrible things about you just because you are WCU, but instead I am going to say way to go this was great. I don't exactly agree with all the electronic stuff going on, but the band sounds great
I'm here to tell ya', my nephew is in this band, we went up last Saturday and was blown away. Simply amazing was the show they put on. This video is good, but you gotta' see it in person to really appreciate it. Rock on David G.!!!!!
I was in this band last year and it was definitely the best thing i could ever take part of. these people are so dedicated and love everything about music. if i could do it over again, i would. i had the absolute most pride with this band not just because this band is amazing, but because of what we went through. the fellowships, the friendships, simple love for music. this band is the best not because it is really good, but because it shows the most passon and love for music i have ever wittne.
This is to laceyk99. Once I have become apart of this band in 2009. I will be getting into my 6th season of marching. I have been marching since 8th grade. Each season my band competes in 5 competitions.
I have seen Horrible high school bands. Ive seen BOA champion bands. Ive been to dci finals. Ive also had the great pleasure of seeing western 4 out of my 5 years. Western is just another style of Marching Band. It may not be what your used to. It is though considered a Marching Band.

First, I've been in marching band for years, so I'm not about to pass judgement on things that I don't know about. You can march in the rain because every band I've ever been in has done it. And I'm not downing the musicianship. Like I said before...you guys are really good at what you do. But it is just one persons opinion (more than one person really...) that electric guitars, singers and voice overs don't belong in marching band. Like I said, though, you guys are good at what you do

Besides...that's why there's different styles. Just because I don't agree with what you do doesn't make me right, but it doesn't make you right either. No one is right in this argument, no one is wrong. I just know I would have never done band if I went to WCU, which is why I'm glad I didn't. I was simply voicing my opinion and I'm sorry if some of you are a bit too sensitive to listen to the criticism bc that's what happens when you put yourself out there...expect it and live with it.

I know there are people who never like my bands that I was in, but that is their opinion and I let them live with it. Once more, I want to reiterate, in no way was I commenting on anyone's musicianship...I was commenting on the STYLE. I know a great deal of people who agree with me, and I guarantee a lot of you catamounts wouldn't like the style that my bands have done. So in lieu of making anymore snide comments to one another, let's agree to disagree.
I also will admit that the drill in this video is no where near perfect, and that is because this was only the second time we perfomed it AND our entire show was still not even on the field. Since you don't believe the "Pride of the Mountains" is a "real" marching band, I want you to know that we have wide range wonderful musicians and I would love to see you try to perform drill playing music at this level of difficulty at 176-180 beats per minute.
This is to lacey99. One of the things that we pride ourselves in the "Pride of the Mountains" is the fact that we have a great diversity in instrumentation. And the difference in what we do and Drum Corps is the fact that we are an EXHIBITION band and we don't compete. We are there to entertain the crowd and make them get on their feet and dance.

You guys are not bad at what you do (though some sets were really off, esp. a line at the front @ 1:43), but (and I'm not saying this to be a jerk) this is putting on a show. It isn't marching band. Not when you use recorded music and can't march when it rains because it might ruin your sound boards...
The guitarist is really talented, but they don't belong in REAL marching band. Maybe I'm biased because to me, Corps is the epitome of real marching band and what good bands should strive for.
Oh and by the way, this is only the second time they performed this show and only after about three weeks or so of practicing it. So I think they did a pretty outstanding job myself.
What is marching band, if not putting on a show? Ask yourself what the reason is for even having a marching band, and why you would even be in one. You say you dont mean to offend. If that is true, then your comment is pointless then if it is only to tell us that you dont see us as a "real" marching band.
r u kidding me?! this band is amazing and when stuff like that happens they probably wouldn't do parts of their show and this band is just no words to describe it
Can't tell what the patterns they are making from my phone... but I wish we could've played daft punk when I was in marching band
