Which dialect is this? It sounds a little different than how we'd recite this prayer in Lebanon. She say "Ar3a" instead of "Ar3o" which shows that this is a Eastern Aramaic dialect. Can someone explain?
I think everyone of us shall follow her, his own path, the path our lord has drawn for everyone of us. Please nyonan don't be so judging to those who do the sign of the cross, after all it's the same cross on whcih Jesus our Lord was crucified and its also the same sign Matthiew talks about (Mat 24:30), what other "sign of the Son of Man" could it be? Let's all be toghether in Christ, everyone of us can have her or his differences in faith or practice.
I think the Syriac people are more authentic in their Christianity - I mean, come on, they obviously speak the language of Jesus. Unlike the hated "Latin" with it's deep roots in Paganism :) By the way, I'm a Yemenite Jew, and we read the Hebrew Bible both in Hebrew and Aramaic - it's interesting how I can understand even if she has a dialect different than mine :)
are u of the syrian faith im of coptic in the oriental body we do the sign of the Cross from left to right not sure about the syrian part but we all have different traditions
I have seen this. I was in that same place in 2005. They wouldn't let me take pictures or video inside the sanctuary. But it was beautiful. I took a few of the courtyard and outside.

you know there is one thing our Lord asked that we have still failed to do..that is that we be ONE as the Lord and the Father are one.

I am from Syriac Jacobite church in Kerala Under the Holy See of Antioch..
The meaning of cross sign is like this in our belief..
God Almighty came down from heaven to earth and saved us sinners who were in left side to right side....
Again we use three fingers to symbolize the Holy Trinity...
