Yes it's all by ear. I can't really answer the other questions .. cause even after reading the theory on wikipedia I still don't get it .. I just start playing on "D", then "F" and then "G" ;D

the only thing you really should improve that is kinda annoying is the bass where u repeat several times the D doing that variation with the 8th that sounds like (pam pam, pam pam x185748 times)
