But other times Marlo said how it was and Chris went along even if he expressed reservations, like here about Bodie. He got paid alot.

In a way, you both are right. While Michael did take over Bodie's old corner, he also was used as muscle from time to time. Remember, his first murder (season 4), the hit on Junebug's family (season 5), and the shootout with Omar in Monk's apartment (season 5).

@Elementer117 The saying is snitches get stiches. If a man is snitching within an organization, he got to be taken care of. All things go through the boss so the boss got to know he was snitching so he can best handle the situation. It ain't hard. The only thing is Bodie wasn't snitching. He was just talking with old enemies and venting against Marlo but he never cooperated.

@Elementer117 You already underestimate them by saying how can a criminal be loyal. Organized crime revolves around loyalty. Just look at the mafia families, Frank Lucas, Melvin Williams, Al Capone. Without loyalty, they would all fall in be in jail like many of them are, due to people being disloyal. If they never been jailed, it's because someone down the line didn't break loyalty and turn againt them.

And even in discipline, it may envolve fear. Fear of the consequences. but out of the discipline, authentic loyalty develops.

They're eating Chinese food in the rim shop ("I don't like the way them chinky motherfuckers be actin sometimes") and Marlo is eating and eyeing the door, and as soon as Monk walks in Marlo walks over to him and asks "Chris with you?" He was worried because Monk and Chris were out baiting Omar. Or when Levy tells Marlo that Chris will have to do life without parole. Marlo says "No Parole?"
Marlo never showed that concern about anybody else. Ever.

@vvadriver must have been alot. Had a woman with kids set up in a nice house, plus he was super loyal. He was Marlo's number 2 and Marlo was making some serious money. And he was loyal to a fault. He wasn't afraid to express his opinion and Marlo would listen to him, sometimes changing his mind based on what Chris said. But other times Marlo said how it was and Chris went along even if he expressed reservations, like here about Bodie. He got paid alot.

@shane111111122222222 Bodie put Marlo out there, but he wasn't going to cooperate. He just told them McNulty that the way Marlo opperate is fvcked up. Bodie came up the old school way. Business was handled diplomatically and killing for lack of a better word, dignified. With the new way, business was handled swift and ruthless with little regard to human life and value. Marlo probably killed more people working for him than those against him.

Bodie couldn't stand how Marlo handled things and he wanted to see them fall. Snitch or not, Bodie was the realest hustler on the show along with D'Angelo. They got fvcked by the game so they fvcked the game back.

@shane111111122222222 Mine too. Bodie was hard but not hard and crazy. In season one, he was a little more wild but by season three, he had some knowledge under his belt. He basically became what D'Angelo taught them to be. Hustle smart and fair. They took out thier best hustler without even knowing it. But buy doing that, they saved there own asses because Bodie would have taken them down by being an informant. He would have been undercover though. I doubt he would testify on the stand.

In a way, you both are right. While Michael did take over Bodie's old corner, he also was used as muscle from time to time. Remember, his first murder (season 4), the hit on Junebug's family (season 5), and the shootout with Omar in Monk's apartment (season 5).

Yeah, I see what you're saying and I agree you. I think Michael's role in the crew was kind of like a smaller version of Chris' role - they both were top guys in some respect to leadership, but were some of the main muscle.

Marlo seemed to have it in for Bodie, going as far as the time they met. He didn't seem to move Bodie, despite him imposing his will. The odds were stacked in Marlo's favor simply b/c his crew outnumbered Bodie's. Notice that he only approached Bodie when he was vulnerable.

Come on now. I liked the Barksdale crew way more than the Stansfield crew but String did alot of sh.... Ordering the hit on DeAngelo, trying to set up Brother Mouzone and Omar, allowing the Stansfield crew to rise to power by not taking care of the street business while Avon was locked up, and most of all for telling the police where they could find Avon. Also I didn't like the fact that the writers decided to let Marlo live happily ever after. In the words of my boy Bodie...." FUCK MARLO!"
