@initialdluvr It's called a "growl" (like in pokemon). There are a few different ways to do it, ranging from closing your throat in a certain way to gargling into the instrument. Different methods work better and worse for different people, so you'll have to find you own way.

some ppl never will learn it.. its a sousaphone not a tuba and not a kind of tuba... tuba sounds soft and smooth and its for concert band. sousaphone is hard and better for marching!

@TheStarrs7679 i'm not really experienced with concert tuba's or sousaphone's but of what i've tried you need much more air on a sousaphone if you try to get the same soft sound as a concert tuba but since it's supposed to be sharper/thinner it actually takes a bit less. (from what i experienced) but i play bass trombone and not tuba regularly...

@makahuro Well I am a tuba player in college right now. you are quite correct. It does take more air to get a great noise compared to just getting a really crappy sound that is splatty. It is easier for the guy playing here because he is mic'ed. So he doesn't have to strain near as much to get a good phat sound.
