This is great. Thanks for the true classic upload.Wishing could of been there, sounded like a great, fun show to be shure there.I have been waiting for a while to see any footage from the Strangers In The Night concert. You mentioned DVD?Has a fan copy been issued on DVD by chance?Would be the best news in a while if is the case here. Thanks again for this true audiophonic gold!Rock ON!!!
@keef1212 The only Previous photos I had seen for this show were located on the LP-Release.Big fan of Storm Thorgeson and Hipgnosis.Really? As I had been told from one source that footage exists for the whole show.Just has not been released, why is anyones guess there.Another, was that the photos seen on the LP release were captured from this very footage. If that were the case, would bet was recorded using on a U-Matic..Never heard the end on that one admittedly.Thoughts?
Great post! I did see Chapman with his band 'Ghost' at a club in Fl. back round 80's and honestly I was expecting more! He sure is not equal to Schenker. I left a lil dissapointed.
What's the second song on this vid? It has a totally AWESOME solo on it!!! Schenker is probably my favorite lead player, along with Joe Perry and Jimmy Page. A jam with those three would have been...dunno if there is a word to describe the magnificence lol
Damn straight! It showcased U.F.O at their height with Michael Schenker with the classics like "Lights Out" "Rock Bottom" "Love to Love" " Mother Mary" "I'm A Loser" "Too Hot to Handle". My copy is messed up, so I guess I'm gonna have to go out and buy it again, it's an immortal classic.
Have to agree with iperti13, "Strangers" is a masterpiece. Longer versions enhance every studio version of the songs. Hope you have a decent conventional stereo, often not mentioned on these postings is the fact that compressed MP3 downloads/ home/laptop/computer crap "overseas" made speakers, i-pods that are only marginally sonically superior to 25 year old Walkmans, do nothing to enhance 70's rockn'roll. Much of the great hard rock music of this era was engineered with 12-15"woofers in mind!
I use my guitar cabinets as my stereo speakers lol. A turntable never sounded as loud as when two 4x12s are pumping out the sound lol. It's a great setup for parties. Too bad it's not neighbor friendly lol.
Definitely Strangers in the Night, their live album from 1979, preferably on vinyl. Not only UFO's best album, but THE best live rock album EVER, and one of the best rock albums EVER, full stop.
Wow. For a guy who is 37 and never got to hear or see the shenk at his top form, with chapman as a second guitar. I can't imagine how that sounded live. You can really hear the power and raw nature of the sound here, the studio albums are so awesome but now I can see why they were and still are such a draw live, amazing even on youtube with crappy computer speakers. Who needs digital?
ufo phil mog et skhenker les maestro du rock hard looking 2 x in belgium live forest national et la ce tube me décoit un peu a cause de la sono on n'entend rien
indeed, with all earnestness; "I'm a Cowboy, on steel horse I ride" or "take my hand, well make it I swear, livin on a prayer" lyrics that were market tested and directed to that eighties teen demographic for maximum profitable result? Phil Mogg woulda shat a gold watch before EVER writing such shallow,
You are right , they regularly used to win the " Only in it for the white stuff" award in NME.And your comments below about BJ "Take my hand" nonsense, . . .amazing, I thought I was the only one who thought it was all BS.

Don't forget about guns the Germans make great guns.

Schenker was the Scorpions first lead guitarist when he was 16.

The band consists of all brits with the exception of Schenker

Also, he probably influenced a lot of guitarists in those British metal bands.

Hi Dantes1815,
The second clip is 'Prince Kajuku'.
Can't remember if Schenker played all the solo or whether Paul Chapman played a part.
Too long ago for me to remember !!
(if only they had camcorders in those days...)

Agreed, I was there in 78. The AMP! The sound was poor but they used the board to record so it came out okay. Mike was on! I wish I was less high!

サイドギターの音が聞こえます。しかもツインリードっぽいこともしてます。ということはポール・チャップマンとのツイン体制期の物でしょうか? それはそれで貴重かも。

UFO was superior to a hack, crap, phony, shit
bag band like Bon Jovi in every way, ie, they
wrote better, more mature tunes, they had
legendary guitarists in their ranks and they
weren't in it for the fame or money. (at least
it seemed that way) UFO was in it for the music and the Coke. heehee.

Can you imagine UFO writing lyrics,
indeed, with all earnestness; "I'm a Cowboy, on steel horse I ride" or "take my hand, well make it I swear, livin on a prayer" lyrics that were market tested and directed to that eighties teen demographic for maximum profitable result? Phil Mogg woulda shat a gold watch before EVER writing such shallow,
bogus, insincere tripe.
