@williewill037 Besides you can reach nearly every destination in the asian and american area from PANC nonstop. For that reason PANC is a good hub for cargo as well
Actually that's an Alaska Airlines retro plane. It's called the Starliner 75, and was painted to celebrate their 75th anniversary in business. It's one of 7 or 8 specially painted planes they operate, and is my favorite of all. Very sharp looking plane. I've flown on it and seen it many times. Still just a 737 inside, but a pretty plane to behold.
4:55 why didnt you grab a ride on that winglet??? LOL. grewat video!!! beautiful!!!! i am hoping to move to anchorage this summer and my dad said we could live within a mile away from the airport!!! lots and lots of cargo comes in anchorage and juneau becuase alaska is all just wildlife, and no products besides crab, salmon and other marine life off the coast.
WOW,just Wonderful! I love this airport,i've never been in there before but i would love to go....Comparing to the other takeoffs that Southern Air Jumbo was very heavy, wasn't it? O.O And that NAC 727 sounded pretty strange to me...is that a variant with different engines???
@MrElSatan Totaly agree. That dude just torments thosose treverse thrusters like theres no tomorrow...From 120 to 5 mph in like 10 sec with a fully loaded 7heavy. Not to shabby...
amazing video, looks like a fantastic airport for planespotting.. if u can stand in that cold temperature long LOL love all those md11's and the northwest 747 looks really cool but old and shabby
there's tons of passanger traffic at ANC, but its small compared to the freight traffic. Anchorage ia a major refuel point for trans-pacific flights flying great circle routes (i.e. japan, korea, etc.) thus many many 747s etc carrying freight. Used to see fedex and UPS there a lot too!
Excellent -- I really like the IMC takeoffs, and I don't know if another video shows so many MD-11s (a very photogenic airplane). Detailed sound impressive too!
I wonder what passenger service, besides Alaska Airlines, flies out of Anchorage on a regular basis. What about Canadian airlines like Air Canada, Jazz, WestJet and those passenger airlines that are based here in the USA?
Besides Alaska Airlines, China Airlines, Delta, Continental, US Airways, and Northwest all offer year-round passenger service out of Anchorage International. Air Canada, American, Frontier, and Condor all operate seasonally.
Technical stops vary. Some airlines add just fuel to get to there next destination (allowing for more cargo weight), which can take about an hour. Or they can offload and onload more cargo, which can take a few hours. At UPS, we tried for a 45 minute turn -- offload the entire plane, then onload again for departure.
How is that possible?? I am still in disbelief on how that actually happened. Thank God for You Tube because moments like these would never get exposure. haha!
Southern Air was pretty heavy...

The cargo aircraft use Anchorage as a base to refuel from as they continue towards thier destinations in Asia.

So much cargo and so few people in Alaska . I wonder who needs all that stuff?
