  • That's the way a man's door should sound.

  • @f650fanatic not even close to the same price. the banks kit comes with a pyro/boost gauge, turbo, exhaust, intake, and it limits the amount of smoke you put out. to get the same amount of stuff from hypermax its 4285 with the intercooler. which i have. if i did mine again i would have gone banks and added an intercooler from a different truck

  • i heard that the 6.9 was really glitchy and had alot of issues is that true?

  • @warrior2thecore well here is the thing. most IDI diesels are gutless. its just a simple fact. and there are some out there that are mechanical nightmares

  • @BADprid3 oooo i see

  • shes runnin a little hot lol :)

  • I think I saw this truck in post falls yesterday, It drove by and I thought, "hey I have seen that on youtube before."

  • @NathansBackwoods Sweet! Yeah, I sold it to some dude in Post Falls. I'm glad it's still on the road.

  • @mo1971fordcrew, I knew it was the same truck, I saw the 36 inch tires on what appeared to be a stock stance. I figured it had to be the same one.

  • bro can you tell me how big potential for power have this engin? its possible to make it 300 HP ?

  • Comment removed

  • What type of tires where those. I really want to find one just like that one.

  • @danraich They're millitary hummer bias ply tires. They're actually really cheap

  • @mo1971fordcrew how much and whered you get em

  • @beastlybooston 400$ on Ebay-lol

  • @mo1971fordcrew Where can you get them, or do you have a friend in the military that got them for you?

  • OMG WE HAVE THE SAME THING! Hear that engine roar, so fucking sexy ;) Ours has bullet holes and a plow.

  • hey you still have this truck

Here is my new truck. It has a Banks Turbo setup. It's been a fun project. I don't have it anymore; I purchased a new one.

  • i looked at the way they rigged the crankcase vent into the oil fill tube, that motor can not breath, it can build up pressure,

  • @guppyelf It goes from the oil fill tube to the intake. = no pressure

  • Not bad man. I like it.

  • Dude, I like so want that truck :)

  • @thomasmchadwick0302 Yeah, I sold it, I actually kinda regret it, lol

  • NICE truck but you should get the original steering wheel but other then that you got a idi beast

  • very nice..most trucks of that year would be a new honda.. here in Canada lol.... you must live southern? US?

  • @BrokenAxle401 Actually about 40 miles from Canada, in Idaho

  • i want this truck very very badly

  • so you had the pcv going back into the fill spout??

er... how many pounds of boost did you see in the crank case lol

the pcv is one place i see it loosing a lot of oil (bad design by ford)

  • @turtlemann14 It goes from the fill spout to the intake...

  • i noticed that some one has rigged a pipe from the oil filler neck to the ccv, ( crank case ventilator) i am assuming the engine uses a lot of oil or has a lot of blowby? i hope that the guy that owns this ole beauty is letting it breathe!

  • @guppyelf It had tons of blowby, yes

  • @mo1971fordcrew some of those old trucks did. You can run it from the ccv to the ground. Emissions on these trucks was non existant.

  • @guppyelf the way it should be

  • @guppyelf the way it should be

  • why cant the new diesels be this loud.....

  • Pretty SWOOOT! lol

  • i`d rather have my 83 gmc with the ats turbo lol so to have the 6.5 and hood stacked lol gotta love the old diesel huh

  • I don't like detroit diesel. They have extremely weak crank.

  • It sounds like it has a bad knock

  • @KrGsMrNKusinagi0 its because one the video has poor quality sound and second yes it actually does in real life. These old in-direct injected international motors had that unique sound to them. I personally love the sound it sounds like music to my ears.

  • oh ok... :) thanks for letting me know

  • I think it is a stuck lifter or a bent pushrod. My guess someone over reved the rig w/ that fancy turbo.

  • It was an injector knock. I purchased new injectors and the sound disappeared. But I got rid of it and bought a 93 ford 1 ton 7.3 diesel. This thing was a piece of shit, it burned a lot of oil.

  • @mo1971fordcrew Thanks for the heads up I can stop watching now...lol

  • @KrGsMrNKusinagi0 It had a bad lifter.

  • @mo1971fordcrew oh so did you get it fixed?

  • @KrGsMrNKusinagi0 Yea, then I traded it for my 1993 ford

  • @SBGorilla62 do you need to pull the whole motor to turbo a 6.9 and what turbo did you use

  • You can do it without yanking the engine. Its a banks setup.

  • all 88's had the 7.3

  • 87 was the last year for 6.9/c6/4 speed

  • where is the boost guage hooked into. i have one on my 86 idi but it only gets pulled down to the vaccum side and does not show its pulling any boosy. how can i fix this?

  • @lucky131809 It's hooked into the intake. It maxxes out about 15 psi or so.

  • Is the turbo really noticeable as far as power, I wanted to order a banks kit but couldn't afford one

  • @peralez2383 It seemed to help a lot.

  • wait did u say 36's on a stock truck??? do they rub??

  • @05front Yea they are 36's. They did rub on the bumper, I just unbolted it and lifted the bumper up a little.

  • Man i love how noisy the old idis were. reminds you that its a truck not a bmw.

  • i dont think thats a 6.9 cause according to ford they stopped making them in 86 and went to the 7.3

  • That would be awesome if it was though. This thing is a gutless turd...LOL!

  • In '87 you could get a 6.9L or a 7.3L, depending on when it was purchased. '87 was the first year for that body style, and the last year for the 6.9L. '88 and up all had 7.3L's. Project 300 in Diesel Power Magazine is an '87 with a 6.9L.

  • That is exactly right, lol mine was an early 87

  • nope. 87 was the transition year for for, 88 was the first year for the 7.3 and the ZF5 speed trans. also. cant beat the old IDI's tho =]

  • they made 6.9 in 87

  • did you do anything else with the truck man remember me I had the 1987 ford f350 crew cab dually with the banks turbo setup and it was a five speed and would you ever sell this truck to me hehehe

  • sick sick truck man god dam that a sexy ford truck good year to 1987 i am a big ass fan of the 1987 to 1991 ford f-150 f-250 and the f-350 5 star's for the best looking truck ever man

  • badass ford man

  • You do not want more than 15 PSI, those engines can't handle more than that.

  • That does make sense! It probably is fine, i'm just used to my Mercedes which make 3 pounds just crusing down the road. And it gets up to 9 really quick.

  • Thanks dude! I'll check that out tonight! It probably has a bad leak somewhere.

  • Yea I need one. lol I have the Banks exhaust for it. it seems to work. lol That would be sweeeeeeeet to have a solution.

  • Oh man I need a 5 speed! Wanna trade??? To be honest with you, I'm kinda dissapointed with the Banks setup. It doesn't build any boost at all unless you floor it. My buddy had a 6.2 with a Banks, and he had the same issues. I was crusing down the highway at 75 and it was making about 13 psi boost. (it was floored of course) Not bad, but just crusing around town, it makes no boost. It does sound cool though! In order to make more boost, you have to turn up your pump.

  • Thing is why would u want boost when u are hardly pressing accelerator or do u mean it has lag issues?

I had a small ford like that, after pump adjustments it had hardly any lag at all.

  • Their kit isnt ment for boost that fast because these old non turbo engines were not ment for it. But it does help compared to stock. :)

  • correct me if im wrong, but shouldnt the thing on top of the motor b sealed to get boost from the turbo?

  • That hole is the air intake.

  • but shouldnt the air go into the turbo?

  • Yea, after it goes through the filter, then it goes back to the intake manifold.

  • oh i see, thanks

  • Oh fo sho! lol

  • why did you sell the gear vendors???? underdrive/overdrive is nice to have.

with no overdrive that must suck on the highway unless it has 3.08 gears

    nice truck

  • Lol, it didn't work lol. It would have costed like 2 grand or something to rebuild it. I got a 5 speed manual for it, I just need to get off my lazy bum and put it in... lol!

  • How much did it cost?

  • Paid 500 for it, then sold the Gear Vendors unit off of it for 500, so basically it was free.

  • Did you put the Banks turbo on it or did the owner before you do it? Very nice IDI you got there! Not bad for an '87

  • Thanks! Yea the owner before me did it. It's not the fastest, but it works, lol.

  • man you should put a flat bed on that

  • no he shouldnt that would make it gay as fuck.

  • I agree.

  • hey every one has there own thought but you dont have to be a jackass about it chill out

  • yeah exactly i just voiced mine.

  • LOL

  • LOL

  • are those 2 trucks in your shop old fords cause they look like really cool old trucks

  • Yup all Fords here.

  • I really like your truck but i prefer the 83-86 body style with the 6.9 and a 4spd those are awsome trucks

  • That would be nice too!

  • you have a nice truck id like to have that then this crew cab dually im gettin that has a five speed in it and one thing do you know or have a clue why my fuel gauge is reading past full all the time ? and do you have a way to hook up a aftermarket fuel gauge to it and if so could u show me a website that has a diagram?

  • Mine does the same thing... I have no clue how to fix it lol.

  • Usually the float gets stuck in the tank, or the wire gets shorted somewhere.

Mine does something really weird. It will peg the needle all the way full when the tank is full, and the guage will show empty about the time i have 4-5 gallons still left in the tank. Does the same on both front and back tanks.

  • yeah mine is peged pull and when i filled up the front tank with like 2 gallons it kept comin out and i didnt think it was full lol so iunno what i did wrong but i dont know about the single stack i think ill cut off the muffler and just ethier put a tip pointin to the ground or put it right to the side and have it pointin out liek that nto sure on ethier

  • 87 is a good year.

new body style/interior and old 6.9 engine.

  • Thats a pretty loud 6.9! Looks like that has a C6? Same as mine... tough trans but annoying to have only 3 speeds.

  • Yea its so loud! I think the timing is too far advanced. Yea its a C6, I really wish it was a 5 speed.

  • yea do u have oil coming out of the intake side of the turbo going into the intake? and do u have a manual or just a regualr glwo plug switch becuz mine is bad and i have to start the truck with ethier and it gets old quick haha lol ?

  • LOL no, it's just the blow-by tube lol. I have a manual glow plug switch.

  • sry for buggin ya but ok i never knew its my first diesel lol im 18 lol but yeah id liek to have ur truck instead of mine just cuz of the size lol not use to it and one last thing do u have a manual or sumthin that i can look at to rig up a manual switch for the glow plugs and shoudl i keep them one for about 5 seconds or id burn up the plugs if longer or what

  • Your not bugging me lol. All i did was disconnect the white wire on the glow plug solenoid, and I ran a wire to a push button and then from the push button to ground. It was quite easy. And I only hold them on for no mure then 5 to 6 seconds.

  • so its that easy now i hear autolite glow plugs are bad and i think i have four out of 8 inmy truck should i have my mechanic take them out and not me?and thank you for the info i never knew it was that easy to do that

  • I get my glow plugs from the junkyard lol they are free there... You can do it yourself, it's easy. Look up on google how to manually hook up glowplugs, they explain it better than I.

  • ok lol but yeah in the vid that chevy sittin by ur garage what year is that? and whatmotor and trans is in it?

  • Chevy? Are you talking about that little red car??

  • no the truck that is right beside ur garage as ur walkin up to it ? and i found out the prob with my controller a cut off ground i was so pissed off lol

  • It's a 1960 Ford, and there is a 1958 Ford next to it. No offense to Chevrolet trucks but I do not like them, they rust too easy. lol lol

You cut the ground? lol That would cause your problem! ;-D

  • sry dont know my old ford trucks to well and iunno i liek chevy dodge ford was always my first choice in anything lol that all i have ever had since i was 16 lol but yeah and toyota is a good make the older ones

  • but no i didnt the guy that had it did and he didnt know it he thought it was a bad wire or sumthin yea i put it to the firewall and it starts up on the first try with no help from the gas pedal ro ethier like 2 seconds when i turn the key lol its a good feeling

  • NICE!!! That is always a really good feeling! I like it when my diesel runs good.

  • yup i am gettin some ford mud flaps off a big ford semi lol and im tryin to jerry rig a single stack to put on the outside on my passenger side bed

  • Nice!!!

I'm putting stackes on mine too! It will be sweet with the turbo.

  • yeah make sur eto put it u on youtube for all to see and ill show u a pic of mine when i get done with it maybe even a vid on it

  • I'll do that for sure! You have to make a vid...

  • well i will when i get a camcorderlol
