  • NAVKA and KOSTOMAROV-SUPER!!!

  • Did he say "great move, ugly feet"? how mean is that

  • @oona79 Uncle Dick doesn't hold back!

I agree. Difficult moves but incredibly ugly positions. She was showing us her crotch in so many of the lifts or moves in the field.

Innovativeness and difficulty does not equal beautiful as was the case in this.

This is no work of art.

  • @juaquino hmmm... funny, but after watching it again, i tend to agree with you in a way.

  • The grace itself, Navka and Kostomarov are one of the most memorable couple in Ice Dancing and for sure one of my favourite!

  • These two are just amazing ! What a great choice of music and costumes! Great performance, great Russian School. Two thumbs up !

  • I personally never saw what was great about their skating. They didn't deserve gold in my eyes - nothing remarkable or difficult.

  • @dc19921000 yeah, well maybe you can show us a better performance? since this is doesn't seem difficult to you. Or maybe show the other teams' performances....we'll see how difficult their skating is...

  • Now this is ice dancing! It's this type of style and interpretation that I wish most Russians have now these days.

  • AMAZING, love these two, drama, emotion, sex appeal, they have it all. Torino was great, Vancouver was a snoozefest.

  • god, they're amazing!! they were a feet over anyone else!!! just russia could produce a couple like that!! greetings from italy

  • BEST OF THE BEST!

  • It's as though NBC went out of their way to shoot this from the worst possible angles. And Tracy Wilson's commentary is the snidest, b!tchiest I've ever heard her. Really unsportsmanlike, imo.

Classika!!!

  • Ravishing beauty, bravado and sensuality! This was glorious and they fully deserved their gold medal. The only team that should have been on the podium because the Bulgarians should have won silver and the Germans bronze. The Lithuanians had an unfortunate fall in OD or else a medal for them would have been justified as well.

  • best dancers in the world

  • We see "Carmen" a lot, but this one had some innovative moments. Who was the choreographer? I know somebody will know this.

  • @ja3399 Alexander Zhulin and Tatiana Druchinina were their choreographers.

  • This is a great FD but I would love to see a season go by where no one skates to "Carmen"

  • MAGNIFIQUE!!!!

  • @Marta28083: what a stupid comment! show me a better presentation of carmen on ice!

  • @Sputnik150685 My comment is not stupid! The best Carmen in ice dancing is dance of Krylova and Ovsyannikov in 1998- Nagano. You can watch it in you tube! Here in Olympics 2006 I have never seen Russia in ice dancing so so so boring.Russia lost in ice dancing 2010 in Vancouver because such sort of pair like Navka and Kostomarov became Olympic champions!

  • @Marta28083 Ok the dance of Krylova and Ovsyannikov is great, but it makes this performance not bad. The acting and the flexibility of navka is amazing, the interpretation and timing is excellent and every element is level 4 (except the CCiSt).

  • @Sputnik150685 OK, the art is always subjective! In my opinion this dance is just skating and good technics but for me no magic ! Just compare Angelika with Navka! Look at the face of Angelika when she`s dancing on the ice. It is not only flexibility! But in Nagano there were Grishuk and Platov. Just Navka and Kostomarov had a great chance!

  • @Sputnik150685 PS: If this couple didn`t present Russia in Torino what place would take?

  • @Marta28083 ... Do not forget that they had obligatory paths because of which speed decreases! There were other requirements earlier.

  • @Marta28083 Fuck, fuck. fuck and kiss!!!!!!! And, kiss my ass! Bitch!!!!!

  • I love them!

They are the best, perfect technique, great difficulty, and above all great artists. They are the most elegant, and have the best performance. His personality is overwhelming, from their expressions, their movements to their locker room.

Vancouver's champions are not even close, although they were the best in that competition, which gave them high marks was for favoritism as with Lysacek. Even flamenco Belmin and August 2006 was higher than that of Canadians.

  • Sending my love to them and to everybody who enjoy Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov passionate ice dancing performance.

4 years later you are still The Most Enjoyable! Thank you for posting!

  • Their ice-skating technique is Superior even now! It's explanation of rhythms, music structure and the elements within music, even physical motions of dancing in relation to the rhythm patterns & structure on ice.

They skate with incredible & unbeatable passion, which was greatly missed on this Olympic.

If sombody doesn't agree with my opinion, well... it is too bad.

Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov are my favourite and I love them for skating with unforgettable PASSION on the ice!

  • this is wats sometimes missing in ice dance- intensity!

  • I have to say I like it very much.

    Just superior ice skating!

This is intriguing, eyes catching yet very creative and spectacular dance!

    Very well executed!

I really miss this kind of passion on this competition...

  • i think you're mistaking "passion" for contrived music. People tend to substitute music for true charisma and chemistry.

  • @ImNotThere100: I think you are trying to put words in people's mouths.

Where is the talk about music? You are the only one talking about music, so perhaps it is you who is so influenced by it.

  • because music is such an underlying factor. Carmen is one of the most overused pieces in ice dancing just because it's so uplifting. people would be willing to see a mouse chase its tail to Carmen. Everyone's saying that these skaters are dancing with so much emotion, but I only hear emotional music.

  • @ImNotThere100 You hear emotional music and you are influenced by it, by your own admission. That does not however mean that everyone in the world is like you and is blinded by only what they hear. Some can judge brilliance in form and execution without being affected by music and have expressed those opinions here. Just because you don't agree, doesn't mean everyone has to think what you think. I personally think they skated brilliantly, no less so than this years champions.

  • @darkCheer that's a fair statement. i think i was a little annoyed by the posters who claimed that v/m had no emotion in their program, and i was trying to say that emotion doesn't have to be loud and bombastic, which i consider the "easy" route out. but it is also true that loud and bombastic skaters can do so with equal emotion.

  • @darkCheer but if a person can only find emotion in this program and not in a slow, quiet program like virtue/moir at vancouver, then i'm going to go out on a branch and say that yes, they are blinded by the music alone. emotion comes in all forms.

  • @ImNotThere100 yup agreed, good skaters can skate well in any kind of music, slow or passionate. I just had a problem with you dismissing other people's opinions and claiming it was all because of music. The champions of 2006 and 2010 both skated well and deserved their victories. But for you to start bashing these guys because others are bashing the Canadians shows you are no better than them.

  • Amazing, miles better than Virtue/Moir.

  • You are kidding right Virtue and moir can skate to Carmen in their sleep, Navka and Kostomarov attempting Mahler`s 5th symphony they would have crashed and burned or any other ice dance team for that matter.

  • @seanpenn100 At least Navka/Kostomarov are an equal partnership unlike Virtue/Moir where he is carrying her every preformance. Also they do typical clinical, boring, technically good North American prefomances, the Europeans bring the drama the passion and the more interesting routines.

  • Carmen is overdone overused music they didn`t even earn a season`s best here, they were beaten by the Italians in the CD who hadn`t competed in like 3 years.

  • @seanpenn100 , well, did you forget where the Olympics 2006 were? If course the Italians will receive the highest scores. Don't tell me Lysacek was even close to gold in ...those North American Olympics in Vancouver...

  • I agree that Lysacek winning was debatable that`s the only discipline that i thought the judges got it wrong. But Virtue and moir would have won anywhere in the world they certainly deserved the world title two years ago in stockholm.

  • How idiotic. The second-best FD score of all time does not go to a "typical, boring" performance. They skated exquisitely and winningly to a sleepy piece of music. Flamboyance doesn't equate to "interesting". And you want to proof that this stuff is child's play to V/M, watch World 2009 FD. That should eliminate any doubt. Or even Meryl and Charlie's phantom of the opera, world 2010. what a very ignorant statement.

  • I have seen these North American Snoozefests and of course the whole system of scoring suits them now and puts all the interesting routines from Europe at a disadvantage, the French, Italians and Russians all bring drama and uniqueness and something edgy and different and those two females are not up to the standard of the European females. Delobel, Domnina, Khokhlova, Faeila are all stars and bring attitude and a presence to the ice that Meryl and Tessa don't.

  • blame the scoring, of course. just like the russian and italian couples did when they lost. M/V and W/D are blowing a fresh breeze into what was considered a declining sport. The garish costumes, false melodrama. They're bringing this sport back to the roots of dancing. and if you listen to any professional commentator (don't just take my word!) you'll understand that their routines are anything but simple and easy. you probably think torvill and dean's legendary "bolero" sucks as well.

  • @ImNotThere100 The sport wants the North Americans to win at Ice Dance. Now they are considering abolishing the CD which of course the Europeans are always better at. Domnina showed Davis and Virtue how to skate a CD in Vancouver. Also the North Americans didn't bring any interesting elements to Vancouver, everything was the same as it always was. Maybe some people like the Drama and the costumes as well as the skating. The Junior Champs are amazing and entertaining and will be on top in Sochi

  • @annakfan er, the north americans consistently got top marks in CD at both vancouver and worlds. if you're thinking of insulting their OD next, dont bother because V/M broke the OD world record with their flamenco at world. fact is, these teams have been judged under the same system, similar judges (mostly russian, too) and the north american teams have stirring up ice dancing. the costumes were good for awhile but v/m and d/v are taking the sport in a new direction.

  • @annakfan also a departure from style of veteran americans like belbin/agosto, who are more like the russians in this clip. You may PREFER the russians skating in this video (they are undeniably excellent) but its impossible to call the north americans' dances "simple" - deceptively simple, maybe. More is not always more. they skated two of the most difficult programs at vancouver, as agreed by viewers and professional skaters alike.

  • The russian couple were scored under the same system, so that's uh, wrong. The FD scores splits equally into two elements: technical and performance. "Performance" = the artistry/interpretation. The russian couple has a higher technical score than performance, but both D/W and V/M's performance scores were higher than the technical parts, while the Russians has higher technical than performance. So i think you need to reverse that "north americans are all technical" line a little.

  • Canadians and Americans of 2010 Olympics have shown good technically executed but very boring programms. I have never in my whole life seen so poor sensuality and absolutely similar elements in two pairs trained by M.Zueva- I. Shpilbalnd.

  • To each her own=it's rather up to your personal taste :-)

  • Their skating is mature. The Canadians and the Americans now are children....they can't express such emotions and feelings.

  • @bolonkaladanza hilarious, considering that the primary praise for the canadians virtue and moir for the past eight years has been "fantastic maturity" by skating commentators.

  • Sorry, I don't find the Canadians mature yet.

  • The music of Carmen is great, difficult to surpass it. But wahta a difference to the Canadian and American pairs of 2010!

  • trained by a russian coach ((((

  • That's true, but they are completely different. The Russian pair who won bronze were in the Russian tradition. But they were not nearly so good as Navka-Kostomarov.

  • i miss them too:-((

  • I miss them

  • AMAZING

  • that was their highlight! i was really proud of them!

  • samay krasivay para , Navka molodshina!

  • I love much Russia, really!

  • Ugly feet??? look at your feet first stupid bastard!

  • He doesn't mean her feet are ugly literally; he just wishes she pointed her toes... cus he's a stickler for pointed toes.

  • @redstarElen HAAHAHAHA! I love your comment, i know its late but great one! Dick he is just an idiot!!!!

  • @redstarElen Those comments kind of unfriendly: " Their positions were extraordinary, Dick". Change you extraordinary name first, and then comment their positions, pervert.

  • did they break up because she had a baby or did i imagine that?

i hope not; they are AMAZING!!!!!!

  • if I remember well she gave birth to her daughter in 2000 (or 1999). after the birth she returned to skating with him and then they won 3 time Euros, twice Worlds and the Olys in 2006.

  • Ukraine(Navka) + Russia(Kostomarov) = Victory!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe they really, really, really love Carmen and wanted it to be their Olympic Swan song.

  • The song is Carmen.

  • russians own the ice skating rink....there is not much one can say about this. or challenge.

  • i love there performance at the olympics...does anyone know where the OD? it used to be onand now it is gone.. it was soo much fun to watch that one lol

  • They were real champions. It's a pity they stopped competing.

  • @lusiplushy94 they had a terrific run and are deserving olympic champions

  • I think this is an excellent performance for them. I want to watch their Original Dance at 2006 olympic.

  • I tried to upload her but it's Rejected (terms of use violation) . If you need it, I could upload their OD to the swoopshare and you can download it from there.

  • YES PLEASE!!

  • I sent you a message with the links.

  • I agree, they've got some great stuff!!!!!!!!

  • ugly feet? whats dick button on, i'd like to see his 100 year old feet and then we can talk about ugly

  • Superb!!!!

  • Confidence, sinkronicity, elegance and beauty..... GREAT PERFORMACE!

  • it's just you - He is AWESOME!

  • I think there's nothing crammed in here. It all comes together beautifully.

What's that idiot talking about ? Ugly feet?

  • I agree though... I thought Navka's feet could have had a better position, style, and transition, the way Klimova & Ponomarenko would have created more pleasing shapes as the lift progressed.

  • This is absurd. I don't mind having my comments rated as thumbs down if it's because I made some stupid, thoughtless comment. But I didn't - I was respectful and tried to make a point.

  • What are you talking about? These two were the household names in ice dance from 2004-2006.. They won almost everything, and were the big stars of ice dance.. Torvill and Dean revolutionized ice dance yes, but you cannot compare the two like that...

  • That is not a comparison to be made. Of course everyone in the UK knows who Torvill and Dean are. In Russia Navka and Kostomarov are stars just like T/D is in the UK. Figure skating fans know them both. Both teams were outstanding ice dancers of their time. :)

  • ugly feet? id like to see your feet

  • The best! GREAT!!! There are amazing!!!

  • This is one of the best dances in history. Her style and class could not be challenged by anyone. Just true beauty. Although, there were some other pretty and attractive routines, nobody was even close to this one. Great job at the Olympics.

  • totally agree with you!!

They're my all time favorite ice dancers.

  • i prefer Grishuk although Navka is great too.

  • I like both!

  • I like this programm!

  • me too, it's a brilliant Carmen.

  • great!!!!! perfect!!!!!

  • great!!! it`s astonishing, outstanding, magnificent!!! they are beautiful

  • I agree! I love it!!!

  • Does anyone know the title of the first piece of the music they used (at the beginning)?

  • I wonder how much was she paid for just a couple of phrases throuot the routine&

  • such unpofessinal comments! (

wicked off-spot cameras on nbc --

    totally wrong view and impression!

    Very very UNPROFESSIOL!

  • Omg I remeber seeing this live (on tv) in 2006 when the winter olympics was going on. This is one of my favorite performances ever!

  • The best I've ever seen! I know something about dancing...

  • I watch it everyday, I love them and this performance :)

  • Thanks for posting,

    big pleasure to watch!
