Ritchie walked out on the band in the middle of a tour in 1993. Joe Satriani replaced him for the remainder of the tour, but didn't want to stand in Blackmore's shadow - and besides, he had other contractual obligations...

so they turned to someone who's technical skills on guitar exceeded Ritchie's. some folks say Steve is no Ritchie; but in my opinion, Ritchie is no Steve.

I'm getting sick of all these older song's , every time you see them it's always the same stuff . Couldn't care less about Smoke On The Water & Black Night , so what ! How about some unknown songs from Perfect Stranger's like Wasted Sunsets & Gypses Kiss , would love to hear how Steve playes the guitar on that. Also some unheard songs from the House Of Blue Light & Purpendicular . Why not give Burn, Stormbringer & Mistreated a go , because Ian has some problem , it's still Purple material.
