All I can say is that Coldplay has more INSPIRATION in their little fingers than the majority of bands out here. Their music (chord progressions and melodies, lyrics, etc.) is truly some of the very best!!!! Voices are raw, true, NOT totally polished like so many voices out there. This is a GOOD thing! They are truly original. I know music and I know talent due to growing up with a concert pianist for a mom. All in all, these guys rate #1 in my book. Love you! xoxoxoxo come to alaska!!!!!

They site U2 as inspiration, and many of their songs are very similar to something to what U2 would do. I'm a huge U2 fan and have heard nearly every song they have done and know what they sound like. When I'm listening to this album though, I sometimes forget I'm listening to Coldplay, not U2.

This song's melody is catchy! To me the vocals seem slow paced compared tot he frenetic melody, but it mixes well, like a seemingly off beat drum fill landing sweetly on the beat in the end.

--for the moment Coldplay are the biggest band of the year as Viva La vida should be the biggest selling album of 2008 as was their last album X&Y which sold nearly 9 million the year it was released which made it the biggest selling album in the world that year-- but then again they have a long way to go to sell as many as U2 whose last album sold 15 million in one year--so ok you get the picture

@lpfanatik I disagree.Although I'm a huge fan of metallica and U2.In fact I was a metallica fanatic in high school and I've seen them live several times.But that doesn't mean that Coldplay is not as good as them.They make GREAT studio albums and they sounds as good or maybe even better live.That's why as much as I enjoy James' riffs and kirk's solos,I admire coldplay's music as well.
