King Osric had gotten too old, fat, and cynical, but it was nice to see him at least go out in battle. The mirror part seemed a bit too cryptic to me, however.

I believe this scene was suppose to work with the alternate ending. Once Osric is dead Conan returns with the princess and get married- thus ruling in Osric's place.

They cut and stabbed and hacked at him a bunch of times and he still had enough strength to get back on his throne (they stabbed him again lol) and it wound up being his attack on his own reflection that killed him. Plus he took one of them out before he died...WTF? Thusla Doom should get his money back. Oh wait he's dead too. No refunds in hell lol.

They probably cut this scene because at the end it said that without much to do further with the king's daughter, Conan sent her home to her father. So if her father is dead, then the epilogue wouldn't have said that.

Actually I'm glad this was cut (don't get me wrong it's a great scene) because for a couple or reasons.

1: This would have invalidate the task of getting the princess back and Conan and friends would have either stuck with stealing Doom's treasures then later killing Doom & company eventually plus the blond chick would probably still be alive.

2: When Conan returned to reclaim his reward and found the King dead---he would be PISSED.

in fact, thi death scene is quite realistic, flashy moves in fights arent very close to reality. This guy is supposed to be old but still badass king and those are his old trusted guards who became traitors. Its rather normal that they hesistate before every strike. Most real life knife-fights look just as lame, people are so high on adrenaline that they dont think or act logicaly. "Fight or flight" instinct does that to people.

They arent any old assassins, theyre Osric's own soldiers who turn on him (its alluded to that they side with Thulsa Doom basically). The one he kills has a line earlier on when Osric asks Conan, Valeria and Subotai to get his daughter back from Thulsa Doom.
