Alright dtones520, the answer to your question is this: It was the fucking 90's! You could sneak just about anything into a sporting event at that time.
How is the "gunk" from the octopus harmful?? Was is not harmful 50yrs ago? is it any more toxic than all the players spitting on the ice. what happens if you get "gunk" on?? I've thrown octopi at games and havent gotten sick. Wings fans should be throwing dead penguins on the ice this year!!! Go Wings!!!SWEEP!!!!!
This is a sport that averages a few more in attendance than the NBA... a so called popular sport in america. granted the NBA has much more access on television the NHL draws more to the games themselves... As far as the octopus being ridiculous it might be but the octopi are from a fish market so no matter what they were doomed to die.
I couldn't agree more. It's so disrespectful to the octopus' body! Throwing any being around after it's dead as if it were some object or piece of trash is disgusting and wasteful!
oh and this tradition has been around for sooo long and your now starting to complain about it??? you must not understand "tradition". why not bitch about the schools teaching us about the meso american empires sacfricing humans and animals because it was wrong? this is tradition, the octopuses are given alot of honor to be a celebratory piece of this tradition. plus, these are not hunted down, they are bought in the market and after the throwing they are dumped into the river for the fish.
Ok, look. I'm just commenting on how it's disrespectful to fling someone's dead body around at a hockey game. That is all. I didn't know about this "tradition" until one of my friends showed me pictures of this a few weeks ago.
Are you respecting those living and breathing carrots!! Is it too much to ask to leave those crucifers and curcubits alone!? WAR on garden burgers...keep the Cephalopod (ˈse-fə-lə-ˌpäd)tradition ..
Okay- what are you talking about? How did carrots appear in this discussion? And garden burgers? (Which are nasty, by the way. Never eat one!) I'd love to discuss this with you, but I honestly have no clue what you're talking about.
Talking about keeping Cephalopod tradition. Veggies are killed when you immerse them in boiling water. Are you disrespecting the lowly carrot? Glad you agree about the WAR on garden burgers..Keep the tradition.
*sigh* Okay. We can agree to disagree on a tradition. The only tradition I personally believe in keeping is Christmas gift giving, and sometimes Trick-or-Treating. It's a matter of taste and what you personally think is acceptable, I guess. And yes, I hate garden burgers, so we can agree on that at least! :)
in my opinion this is a terrible tradition. Think of the poor octopus. Killed just for some sport. It is a living thing and is not meant to be thrown around for pleasure. wrong. one of these days the aspca or what ever association is gonna make it ilegal.
as a matter of fact, funny now you mention that. This ridiculous tradition of throwing octopus is about to be banned. Exactly. Killed for some sport that no one gives a shit about. And they've found out the gunk from octopus is hazard to players.
read some articles based on those. CNN or sometthing? I assume you get all the information only from youtube. So google it yourself. I tried to post several sources here but it wouldnt let me. It's already banned now. RETARD

Yeah, but you don't know the precise reason why it got banned. You dumbfuck. Go read what how it's hazardous to both players and fans. Retard tradition and people like you can go to hell.

do you always anthropomorphize all insects, sponges and animals? geeze louise ...
mekandi69 3 years ago
I'm not anthropomorphosizing anything. I believe all life is equal, and I'm paying my respects. Is it too much to ask for?

I'm sure if it had a problem with being thrown into an ice rink it would've said something.

The octopus isn't killed for sport. It's sold as seafood. It's just a weird tradition. Weird and smelly. And definitely NOT for people with OCD.
