  • Oh, come on,you try to make it sound as if the white stuff is potassium bromate, which it's most definitely not.

    Package says "Pumpkin seeds, salt, bleached bromated wheat flour". The white stuff is mostly salt and dunno what the wheat flour is for, but there's probably less than 5% of _flour_. The potassium bromate is one (of several possible) ingredient in "bleached flour", typically with << 1%.

    You're about right about KBrO4 in food, though: avoid bleached flour and stuff made from it.

  • try buying raw pumpkin seeds, or from the food bins at a health food store or whole foods store.

    Commercial products suck. Rule of thumb: If the ingredient list has anything you can't pronounce-- put it back, and "keep movin"
