Also I don't think you don't want to help Darfur because you don't "feel obligation", an obligation is something that's there whether you feel it or not. I'm not living in Darfur and I didn't jump into bed with the chinese and the Arabs who are the cause of this disaster. The Africans did because of some misguided notion that America is evil. They are reaping what they have sown. It's a tragedy I know . however, it's not worth yet another war. Let Libya. Chad egypt and the region decide the fate of these people. The US military can support any efforts they undertake but sending in the US marines is just not a good idea, help. yes. war. no.

I don't think the problem is moral obligation but morality which presupposes that we have to be free moral agents capable of making deliberate decision. In other words to act morally comes from acting out of our freewill, so just because something is not our problem does not mean we should not act. What is going to stop us from acting to help those with different problems? There are no situations or obstacle that prohibits me from making donations, the alternative to help is present.

Also I don't think you don't want to help Darfur because you don't "feel obligation", an obligation is something that's there whether you feel it or not. You don't want to help because the situation does not correspond with your self-interest rather than your moral obligation (if you have any). People feel the need to help others because they have a moral obligation which goes beyond self-interest and encompasses humanity rather than race, culture, and nationality.

I suspect the leaders of Africa are not forward thinkers planning the future of their respective people. What can change this? i did a bunch of reserch and when i started my reserch i didnt think that the us had done anything about darfur. but we have. i didnt like bush but i just wanted to let you guy know that we have helped a little and what we have done hasnt really helped but throughout time things will be done. darfur will be a safe place for all one day and i hope that day comes soon. i dont think if we called those people everyday that would make a difference. they would just get very angry.
