2 things, this aint no freestyle, this is an improvisation of 1 o his tracks! I remember when he went london, think choice fm- i wanted to b there to freestyle wit him n drop a demo cd cos i always freestyled to his ins- he was aiways a massive inflence 4 me as a conshus rapper.

OBVIOUSLY he's doin' somethin' right because he's there and I'm here. However, as a consumer, his music doesn't really excite me like other artists' music does. I guess that's why his stage name is "Common". Regardless, it's good to see a black man doin' his thing. Please don't hate me. That's just my opinion.
not a freestyle shit from the BE album i got stashed away somewhere dis shit was kinda lame but i like common so ill give him a pass check my shit out just go2 my pge and follow the link 2 my myspace
If any of you really were hip-hop fans you would know that the entire second half is freestyled. hes listening to the song in his heaphones. repeating a couple of the lyrics helped him catch the beat. go check out the go video, then come back and really LISTEN
this verse is from his single "go" . dope verse. the instrumental is playing in his headphones. the handheld camera cant hear it, but everyone else in the room can (they have on headphones as well). and so can all the listeners.
Dude has had no less than DILLA, Dj Premier, ?uestlove and Kanye producing for him to name a few.
Man, sounds to me you don't know too much about REAL hiphop (not that sugar coated lil jon type shit). Name me anyone there apart from Pete Rock who's as good or better?
Of course he can hear the music in his headphones. NO radio station can play the music out aloud whilst the mic levels are up because it would obviously cause feedback: Speaker-->Mic-->Speaker-->Mic
where the heck you get this being racist? And "the freestyle" is pure when done acapella. Some katz need to live a lil' to understand Hiphop..."hegemonies". Werd-up living proof of ignorance making it difficult for the real race to live . ..the huMaN race. On that note, Common laid a dope freestyle. big-upz to the dude.
How is that racist? It's a cheap camera, and they're probably too lazy to put the instrumental in the background. And how is it that he sounds "obscure", I could make out what he was saying. Stop playing the race-card! By the way, I'm brown so yes I am a minority.
yeah, im pretty sure tha instrumental is playin in his headphones. they can't play any type on sounds from off the air in the same room as the mics because it would interfere with tha mics...
What station was this on? Ain't puttin an ad in or anything, but seriously Common should've gone on Choice FM, its the only Black community & music radio station onair in London (in a city of 12 million people: we only have one station.. its a shame but its a start). Most of our peoples over here tune into that station so that rep out to Brixton would've been appreciated better!
this is a freestyle. a freestyle is something spit on thee spot over any beat or without a beat. what you guys should be saying is this is a "written". because a written freestyle is different then off the head freestyle
Common Sense is one of the greatest. Also, a freestyle will usually have crutches, meaning; um, yo, hey, yeah, uh, and that sort of thing. Hope I don't sound patronising. Education, one of the five pillars of hip hop. respect. Pip

9th Wonder?
Stoupe?
Hi-Tek?
Large Proffessor?
14mm2 3 years ago
Fair enough there's a couple of good names there.
LP's a bit past it though in my option, was good though.
Hi-Tek's a DIlla wannabe and hasn't produced anything worth noticing since Hiteknolgy and 9th is a Pete wannabe straight up.
