But I reckon, or I'd like to think, him being at the Warriors under Wiki and Co will be just what he needs to get to his best. @maristsp MIGHT be a bit fitter? Union is so stop-start the players can catch a breather every few minutes. The ref blows so often that the game NEVER flows enough to NEED any kind of stamina. League players are expected to play a full eighty minutes pretty much non-stop. It's no contest. In England at least, when a League player enters a Union team they destroy convention and stand out like stars because Union is so damned slow. Conversely, Union players get DESTROYED in League and rarely last.

Granted making a comparison between actual teams during exhibition matches I'd have to look back at events such as Wigan (League) vs Bath (Union), in which Bath came up wanting in both codes.
League from a spectator standpoint is faster, more open, more exciting. A passing and tackling feast. Union is, was, and always will be a stop-start affair.
@maristsp Strikes me that simple logic would suggest a sport promoting constant pace without breaks, will produce better athletes, and greater handling/tackling/kicking skills. There's simply more of all of that in that code.
I would love to see some exhibitions between the leading Union and League teams competing across codes every year. I'm of the opinion that Union players would have to increase their training just to compete with the guys putting in solid halves every single week, non-stop.

erm, you appear to think the play stops when the tackle goes in. You need to watch more closley. The defense needs to immediately retreat 10m before the ball is played or its offside and a penalty if you interfere. There is no rest in league and unlike union, no place to hide out in the backs for a breather.
The 2 sports are different and different skills are required but for out and out fitness/athetasism then you need to speak to some union guys that dabbled with league.

@20hUck yeah ur right league players might be a bit fitter and a bit tougher(coz theres more collisions) but no way are they faster or stronger. they just did a 100m race with the fastest league players and one aussie rugby player and the rugby player ended up winning, and all those league players ran slower than 11 sec. the fastest guys in rugby all run in the 10s.
. . and how can league players be stronger? those 130kg props go low so they can secure the ball. .

@maristsp MIGHT be a bit fitter? Union is so stop-start the players can catch a breather every few minutes. The ref blows so often that the game NEVER flows enough to NEED any kind of stamina. League players are expected to play a full eighty minutes pretty much non-stop. It's no contest. In England at least, when a League player enters a Union team they destroy convention and stand out like stars because Union is so damned slow. Conversely, Union players get DESTROYED in League and rarely last.

@maristsp I can only base my opinion on what I see when I watch either code, whether it be foreign or domestic club matches, or internationals. Granted making a comparison between actual teams during exhibition matches I'd have to look back at events such as Wigan (League) vs Bath (Union), in which Bath came up wanting in both codes.
League from a spectator standpoint is faster, more open, more exciting. A passing and tackling feast. Union is, was, and always will be a stop-start affair.

@maristsp Strikes me that simple logic would suggest a sport promoting constant pace without breaks, will produce better athletes, and greater handling/tackling/kicking skills. There's simply more of all of that in that code.
I would love to see some exhibitions between the leading Union and League teams competing across codes every year. I'm of the opinion that Union players would have to increase their training just to compete with the guys putting in solid halves every single week, non-stop.

erm, you appear to think the play stops when the tackle goes in. You need to watch more closley. The defense needs to immediately retreat 10m before the ball is played or its offside and a penalty if you interfere. There is no rest in league and unlike union, no place to hide out in the backs for a breather.
The 2 sports are different and different skills are required but for out and out fitness/athetasism then you need to speak to some union guys that dabbled with league.

I was there that night. SFS. 2004 qualifying final. Dogs went on to win the comp the following week.
