Fios Constant Speeds

I pull 4.2 mb/s speeds once awhile during downloading a game off Steam.. Fios is crazy fast and puts my previous isp to shame.

dial up is't that bad, its just the market is demanding more from the programmers. programmers are designing data heavy programs and files which forces everyone to get faster internet. web pages and apps are way larger then they use to be...soon we'll be looking around for something faster then fios

yeah i use a mac and use comcast and it wont load the full page sometimes. hey does fios use a cable like or a phone line jack?

I have Charter cause there is no fios in georgia, and I am paying for 5mbs down and 512k up and my download speed i am getting is 7kbps to100kbps also is crashes every hour or so.

Charter ISP sucks!!!!!!

Uggh, i switched to fios, but i still ahve comcast, fios is horrible, the tv is really annoying with its extra features that get in your wayand all, i miss comcasts easy version. The internet is crap, i will post a video of comparing speeds soon

I'm in Singapore. They claim "Cable" as Fibre optic that has highest speeds to 100 Mbps. But speaking of "cable" as you know in Singapore most of the residents live in high-rise apartments. Cable is known to be "laggier" than DSL because of its "shared: concept whereby the cable connection speed is shared throught the building. Wheras ADSL is "dedicated". My plan is a DSL connection that is only 3 Mbps. It usually downloads at a constant of 300+kbps from US websites. Wish we has FiOS!

Really... Please tell me what plan you have, and with which company, and I will explain how you are mistaken. Granted I don't have the fastest fios plan, it's actually the smallest, but I have a feeling you are misunderstanding something.

i live in the uk , i dont even have fiber , and my wifi can give me 4.2 meg , my like can send 6 meg , so fiber isnt really that fast untill you get up into 20/20 .

By the way this fios video is 1.22MB/s, which is the smallest plan, and wireless g is 54Mb/s. (Megabyte vs Megabit- one byte = 8 bits).

So if you say your plan gives you 4.2 I can only assume 4.2Mb/s. If you have 4.2MB/s that's great but I think you are mistaken.

for you to download at 1.22mb/s you connection speed would have to be considerably higher that 10/2

i live in kenya and i'm blown away by this. here files download at an average of 20kpbs. to see it go something like 1200kpbs  is pretty amazing. i gotta get outta africa

You are right my friend fios is sweet but may your 1.2mb second download is do to your crappy mac cause I use com-cast and I'm getting download speeds and I mean constant speeds at 1 to 2 and sometimes 3 megabytes a second and I'm also using a wireless network

haha, it has nothing to do with my 'crappy' mac for two reasons. First of all, it's not crappy, second of all, you get what you pay for. I'm currently on the lowest plan with verizon and these speeds are pretty remarkable.

If what you say is true, then you are probably paying a lot more than I am. However, 3MB/second is extremely fast. As far as I know, comcast doesn't offer anything close to that.

Lol well least we agree your mac is crappy lmao but you base level fios package is on pare if not slower than my comcast package id prove it to you but im currently on deployment in erbil iraq so Im not using the bandwidth I HAVE BACK HOME the only thing that is slow for me downloading is limewire and even its fast as hell its just slow compared to other things I download or use to down load like I said I get speeds ranging from1.2m to 3mb a second so I have no complaints.

if you have the gateway FX notebook, don't bother getting the mac. macs are dece for video editing (assuming you have a powermac with a 8800gt). seriously the gateway fx is half the price of the macbook pro and 5x the computer.

i have comcast to but i am thinking about getting verizon fios. it is true comcast most of the time is not constant speeds. even i have there blast pack which is 16/2 i get a little more with the power bost but after that i get about 10mbps
