I'm trying to add a "fade in" right at the beginning of my project. I did what you did, but it's turning the whole clip into a "cross dissolve" section and I'm not getting that little icon like you are. What am I doing wrong?

I have a question, I add a transition such as a 'spin slide' between 2 events equally. Hopefully this makes sense so the transition takes effect but in the background is the same video that is being transitioned until the 2nd event starts. Then the 2nd half of the transition shows the beginning of the 2nd event.

@OgrAdaY Grab the left or right side of the transition by putting your mouse arrow near the edges. Then you will see a tool that will allow you to pull it out or push it inward.

@FinalCutKing ok i think i figured out how. but sometimes, i have no idea why, it wont let me drop a cross disolve in between 2 clips, it will only let me drop the transition on one clip or the other

I'm learning FC Express. Can you tell me how to change the time of a transition? Preset is 1 sec. How can I make it longer?

You can change the length by going up to your viewer. In the top left hand corner you will see a box that says something like [ 00:00:01:00 ] - this is the box that tells you the time length. 1 second is the default. If you type in 200 then you will get 2 seconds. 300 for 3 seconds and so on.
