That's not how you steam rice that's boiling it and letting it cook at low heat. Steaming it is actuating cooking it with boiling water at the bottom of a pot and using a steamer on top.
Wow it actually works... Even thought I used 1 cup rice and 2 cups water, and before putting the water in, I fried the rice in the same pot using a little oil, for about 1-2 minutes.
Also don't forget the ... Salt, ground black pepper, ground red pepper, rice condiments, a little oil no matter if you fry it or not, maybe some garlic, a few pieces of yellow pepper, and some ketchup.
I really can't stop myself from adding all sorts of those amazing ingredients!
@Onpailin thats real rice not instant. You are washing the starches off of the rice so it doesn't stick at much. if you have ever eaten fried rice then your rice has been done similar to this.
Soooo... you say youre a chef, Im a classically trained professional cook in my mid 20s working hard for years on my career and have yet to call myself a chef until i hold that coveted position. If you could do us all a favor and not call yourself something your peers in this great culinary world might consider a high honor.
Dont cheapen the title any more than it already is....
You seem really mature for your age. Most 14 year olds I know eat nothing but food out of the microwave. Good for you, cooking is a great and useful hobby and if you're lucky enough you can make it into your career as well. I wish you all the best for the future.
@MihnSaChau do u need to use any type of vinegar or such when u cook the rice onis it just plain cold water? I've seen some people use rice wine vinegar and wonder if it affects the cooking process
Jasmine rice cooks that fast? I just ran out of rice from india it took 40 minutes and 3 times the water. I'd really like your 'stick' much more if you would put the nutritional values w/ your vids. Shalom, ESL
Excellent my Friend!
Many thanks.
Would you do anything different for brown rice?

I'm not sure about you, but the rice looks way too moist.
minus37 1 month ago
The rice is too wet still. Get a rice cooker may be a way better option (and it can cook other stuff too!)

Is it the rinsing that gives it more body?
Can you tell us what brand of rice you use?
Most rice calls for double the water to the amount of rice.
I don't have a steamer and I only have long grain rice.
Thank you for helping me to make rice NOT so fluffy.
I think America has gone too far to make rice TOO FLUFFY.
Very good video. THANK YOU!

@slayerdude10 they use the vinegar probably because they are going to make a dish out of it such as sushi rice for sushi.
