It works very well with 32 GN SD cards, it's a little bit sluggish though when navigating from book to book, when you select the music bookshelf the unit can take at least 20 seconds to calculate the large amount of music in the music folder, so it often says "Please wait" when I access the music bookshelf, but other than that it works very well.
I believe in this video you mentioined that the VR Stream doesn't play OGG Vorbis files, it actually does, in answer to your question about what operating system the Stream is based on, I believe it runs Linux. About the pre-loaded audio book devices you mentioned at the start of the video, I believe the product is called PlayAway.
as far as ipod touch goes to the person who asked if the ppid touch was gd enough for us for reading books. it does nto have the type of naviagation that we have so its nto as good even if it did support daisy
I wouldn't be surprised if we see an app for the iPod Touch/iPhone that provides support for DAISY will full navigation, and possibly text search features, someone will come out with something in the future I suspect, if they don't then I'll be very surprised.
The digital players fron the NLS will support usb flash drived you should be able to play downloaded content from BARD. Are you or jls fernilure with the unabridged audio book service. I also download books from them. I signed up through my network library for the blind Texas Talking Book Program.
I think in some countries HumanWare incluse an SD card in the purchase price of the VR Stream. When I bought my unit last year it came with a 1 GB card, but the card I received was damaged and eventually broke. I can't use NLS as I don't live in America, so I can't even get access to that service, but Vision Australia provide me with DAISY talking books.
Rhe model number of the VR Stream is VRC 303. Most electronic device manufacturers use a model number convention where that some a 2 or 3 letter prefix then a seperator, usually -, then a suffix that consists of several numbers. Humanware seems to have reversed the convension, so the model number reads 303 VRC.

I have the book port plus and the victor reader stream. As you know the book port plus is a lot like the plextalk pocket. I agree with the video.

How does the iPod Touch do at playing audiobooks.
The library for the blind over simply uses MP3 rather than DAISY.
Do you need a dedicated device just for audiobooks or would your IPod Touch do well enough just for that?
Is there a DAISY player that could run on a new IPod Touch with voiceover?
Code Factory has a DAISY player that world with it's Mobile Speak software.

I'm aware of Mobile DAISY. The iPod Touch can handle MP3 and Audible books ONLY! No DAISY support exists at this time that I'm aware of.

@zkrisher There are various DAISY player apps for the iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad, but I don't know what they're called.
