Jimmy is very handsome!!!! But it just goes to show that you can have it all and still not be happy with your life.... Jimmy has a great family that loves him, he is smart, plays sports, good looks, and very talented.... And still he is depressed.... Depression should be taking very serious by people and after watching this movie and doing research its a sickness and people need a lot of help to deal with it....
This movie doesn't say why he killed himself. His mother valued strength & not revealing feelings so family was not a welcoming option for helping him. He was suffering intensely (as shown by his crying scene), and there appeared to be no outward reason, ie nothing to do to fix the problem. So his conclusion was he was unfixable, and others would be better off without him. He likely needed examples of people who overcame depression to hope that people like him can get better/have a decent future
@quiktymevideo The last thing that happens to us before any illness (even a back spasm) is often blamed as the cause, but there'd be precursers. To gain more resilience against future triggers, look for other things in your life that made you susceptible. If Jimmy stayed with counselling, maybe he would've blamed his empty hopelessness on his parenting, but that won't get him better. He may need meds and/or to retrain his beliefs towards life. But he CAN DO SOMETHING. Read Learned Optimism.
Ok, I'm not actually blaming this movie for my depression, but I had been pretty depressed a lot after watching it because of the idea of somebody taking his or her own life for selfish reasons.

I remember seeing this movie when I was in the eighth grade. This is what gave me depression for many years to come. :(

@quiktymevideo You can not seriously be blaming your depression on a movie.
