Matt Tong is a really energetic player with no sense of tempo, which makes him sorta useless outside of a grindcore band. Kele is a wildly inconsistent singer capable of hitting a really nice feel. Paul Epworth, Eliot James and Rich Costley made this record, through extensive take and spending hours editing the drums into time, building vocals out of probably dozens of takes, and covering it all in reverb. The producer and engineers made this record, not Bloc Party.
