To be honest I know very little about these games, though I am interested. Are you stuck with a small ship or can you get bigger? Can you upgrade it? Anything else really besides these battles? More than one race you can play as?

@CaptinTrips well, techicly you can play as other races but it doesnt really make any diffrence to the game. and you can fly any ship you want. from Scouts to heavy fighters, to Corvettes, Frigates destroyers and even carriers, and ofcourse Freighters an stuff if yiou like to be boring an trade around lol. an not only that you can command entire fleets, have a fleet of Freighters to do Trading for you. you can also build stations to produce goods like weapons an stuff. have your own econemy

@CaptinTrips just to point out X rebirth will be out late this year, an will have a brand new Engine with multi core support an stuff, As X3 doesnt so it can lag alot in large battles an Busy sectors. but hopefully in X rebirth it'll be much smoother as well as much better looking game.

This game is the last in this series, and there's tonnes of mods for it, so don't worry.

The learning curve is more like a hump, once you learn to navigate all the menus, you'll be fine :P

I payed $6 for this game on Steam and I feel I over paid. The game starts way to slow, you have to take way to long just to learn the game because there is so much too it and the tutorial don't teach you but 10% of what you need to know. The learning curve is HUGE and much like a MMO unless you can sit your butt down for countless hours you don't get anywhere. Good game, but only if you can play for countless hours. 3 of 10 stars IMO.

@apok72 well i remember they did a much more detailed tutorial in game about everything on X2, dunno why they didnt really do anything for X3. but once oyu learn it all this game is awesome. an yeah its a slow paced game. not every game is fast. and i personally find fast games to be a bit boring. i allways prefer slow building up kinda games :P

@apok72 I bought this game for 60$ almost 2 years ago and i feel it earned every penny. The game looks awesome, has probably one of the best music-scores ever in a SP-game, and its a sandbox game.

I miss playing it every day, but i am waiting for the bigpack of "bugfixes" to sort some issues.

Seriously, think about what you said. Also I suggest reading the page on steam about any game you are about to buy - it will tell you what kind of game it is. What part of a space exploration, trade and combat game did you think would be a 2 second job to learn?

It's because of guys like you,we have games where WASD is movement and everythink else is controled via space so stupid-ass players will get the controls,don't judge this game only because it's not same as all others. Yes it uses a lot of keys,but it's space SIMULATOR and in real space shuttles you have more than single button! If it's too difficult for you than don'tplay it and don't judge it loudly. It's priceless game and I hope X Rebirth will be too.

@Gasert666 I somewhat agree with the guy, when I started a new character in x3 it felt like...well, like I'd just been yanked from my couch, dropped into a space ship without any idea of what I was doing, where I was, or what I should do next.

Now I've been playing a while, and it's fun, but I have to say in my opinion I still prefer Freelancer. It's simple, it's fast paced, and it's old as hell so I can run it on my laptop. Perfect.

@Nick871203 haha :P One thing mate... I played X3 Reunion for a fair amount of time.. loved the graphics it takes u to another world!!! but i found it so slow, and i couldnt work out how to earn cash... does it get better? I got so bored....

@boycie18 well i have to say Terran conflict is TONS better than reunion. there are multi storylines too. not just 1 big one. and well its not that hard to make cash, i allways do assasination missions and xenon invasions, thats how i make money at the start. as your combat rank goes up, missions get harder and much more money rewards. then you just find a good sector with plenty of silicon. and ore if you wanna pruduce weapons and set up self sufficiant complexes

i love flying up close and personal on capships like you do here, they cant aim at you and if somebody else tries shooting you, just dodge a little and the capship will get attacked by its own fighters! and i have a nice gaming joystick with a button for everything :)

wath weapon does the Tiger use?

the Phased Array laser cannon (PALC) its an Anti fighter weapon an pretty long range, its a very rare weapon you can only find in crates somewhere around, i found a crate of 2 in a kha'ak sector, it can only fit on the splits M7s, i think the argon also has a similar weapon called the plasma beam cannon its argon based, which only fits on the cerberus, but i havent found that yet but i think that one is an anti capital weapon.

the plasma beam cannon is used by the turrets you can buy (not the OWP). It's exact the same weapon... if you want to take down a capship with it you'll need a looot of time :D
