  • Ive Always Like The Fastbreak Offense Run and shoot and leave your defenders in the dust and when you have a player like Magic who thinks two plays ahead even better.Makes BasketBall More Entertainig God Bless ShowTime . The Good Thing Is I see The Clippers Using these Kinds Of elements on there offensive schem Run And Shoot leave your defenders in the dust.

  • how basketball should be played and this is coming from a celtics fan

  • who the fuck would dislike this? confused celtic fans?

  • @salarmander27 A true Celtics fan should enjoy this. Larry Bird is my god, but I can also appreciate how great Magic was.

  • The greatest team of all time Magic Johnson, Byron Scott, James Worthy, AC Green, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Michael Cooper

  • @NoMercyDB would squash any kind of super team that stars today try to create (points to the Heat)

  • A few years before my time, but great stuff.

  • Magic's court vision is just unreal. Showtime Lakers all knew how to pass and finish, amazing.

  • I always dream that I'm playing basketball like this.

  • The madafuccin GREATEST!!!!

maaan the shady 80's, the streets were cut-throat and brutal, cracc ruled the streets and coke ruled the clubs, the raiders and 49ers were on fire winnin 6 combined super bowls and Lakers winnin 5 larry o'briens themselves. Cali in the 80's was something else, have to be a true survivor if u were off the porch in the shady 80's..

  • Coop a Loop at 3:55! Brings back good memories...

  • One of my all-time favorite videos on youtube, watch it every few months or so. 80's basketball was far more entertaining than today, and the Lake Show was 'Showtime' definetely. Love the Floaters part with Coop showing the league best defense! And the captain showing the skyhook. Magic will always be a legend, and the greatest performer the game ever had. Some may beat him numbers wise, but Magic always made it worth watching. All this video is missing is some Chickey Hearn...

  • @Pentymix ,,, 1 more, keep this rivalry alive

  • Best Video Ever...............Thanks for this...Video game a brutha goosebumps...Basketball will never be the same.

  • Damn. Thank you again for this video. LOVE IT

  • cant wait to do dis in 2k12 finally they put SHOWTIME in it

  • i just got reminded that this showtime lakers in the 80's were 3 speeds above everyone else. they would dominate the shaq, kobe lakers or the pau ,kobe lakers.i love the lakers ,but look at the difference, its clear as a crystal ball, magics team is the greatest, big game james, kareem, all of them, faster, faster faster, and more talented.

  • 2:44 is just wrong lmfao!!!

  • The '86 Celtics I think are the greatest team in history, but the '87 Lakers might even be better. We could have seen (had Bias lived) a healthy McHale in the finals and a young Len; the way it ended up was a shame, because as good as those Celtics were, that Showtime team just ran them off the court. Ran them off the court. Magic Johnson in the '87 Finals: 78 assists, 13 turnovers.

  • pAT rILEY WAA A GREAT DEFENSE COACH GIVE HIM THAT AND THAT OFFENSE WOW I DON'T ANY TEAM WILL EVER ACHIVE THEIR TEAM CHEMISTRY THEY PASSED AND WERE UNSELFISH THAT IS A LOST ART, NOTICE UNSELFISH TEAMS LIKE THE LAKERS AND PISTONS OF THE 80'S BUT TO DEFEND THE PISTONS ISIAH WAS GOT HURT IN 88 FINALS AND RODMAN WAS HAVING BACK SPASMS SO IT EVEN OUT

  • Look i am a Laker fan now I love the Lakers best challenge the 80's Lakers had was The Detroit Pistons, watching film < michael Cooper played good defense they play good defense that is what created part of their fast break as bad as i hated the Lakers back then you have to give credit where it was due 5 rings in 10 yrs They were a class act definetely the team of the 80's !!

  • do you believe in magic!?

  • Other teams plays basketball This team IS BASKETBALL!!!

  • If Kareem played against Shaq, he could have looked like Mutombo getting wiped off by the Diesel.

  • The showtime Lakers didn't have a showtime against the 91 Bulls.

  • @BENKATOK most of those guys were aging by then. kareem had retired, magic, worthy and mychal thompson were fast aging, cooper had retired and rambis had left the team. most of the core players from the showtime era were either retired, had left the team or were past their prime. meanwhile, MJ and pippen were very well into their peak conditions, as were many of their teammates. against the 1985 or 1987 showtime Lakers, 1991 bulls don't have a prayer in a 6 or 7 game series

  • @Laydeezmancris GOOD EXCUSE BUT EVEN IN THEIR PRIME THE BULLS COULD HAVE BEATEN THEM. Magic,Worthy, Rambis, and Cooper were not that old when they got beaten by the Bulls.

  • @BENKATOK no way. the 1987 Lakers will have absolutely pulverized the 1991 bulls. first of all, kareem (even at 40 then) will have KILLED bill cartwright down low; keep in mind that the Bulls never faced an ELITE big man in any of their Finals. Secondly, Magic at his athletic prime tore apart ANY defense, and even if they put scottie (who was an elite defender) on him, Worthy, B. Scott and Coop are going to work. when you then throw in wilkes, thompson, mcadoo, rambis. sorry, but the Bulls LOSE

  • @Laydeezmancris The showtime Lakers looked good against teams that don't play defense but against good defensive teams they can't win. The Pistons beat them with good defense. The Bulls were a good defensive team so there is no way the showtime Lakers could have beaten them.

  • @BENKATOK thats some of the most revisionist form of basketball history I have ever read. The Pistons beat them in 1989 .... WHEN MAGIC AND BYRON SCOTT WERE INJURED. and kareem was 42 freaking years old. the Lakers can't win against good defensive teams? that's just bullshit and you know it. the celtics were consistently in the Top 10 defensive rankings during the 1980s, as were the 76ers, rockets, suns and trail blazers. they beat the celts TWICE. to say that is very ignorant!

  • @BENKATOK They were a half court team by then. In 1990 they ran and ran and the Suns of the early KJ era took that and ran them off the court in the playoffs. Mike Dunleavy came in and moved the team into a half court set with Johnson starting to become the power forward he would have been.

  • "The Beautiful Game." You see more ball movement in this seven minute video than you do in an entire NBA season now.

  • lml, gotta love the shorts!

  • 15 ppl r miami heat fans LOL

  • BEST BASKETBALL TEAM EVER! Including any one of Jordan's Bull!

  • haha were those 9 foot goals or something? xD

  • Magic = best passer and point guard in NBA history, period!

  • Comment removed

  • 80s were lakers and dodgers decade!

  • What's the song @ 6:12?

  • I am a huge laker fan but this will never happen with these lakers unless Kobe starts passing the ball more, he is turning 33 and still wants to shoot up 30 shots. He needs to start learning to shoot set jumpers and passing the ball around more. Bring Rick Adelmen!

  • @rg31andonly, you know Kobe is told to take that many shots a game, right? With the exception of Ron Artest, all of the Lakers this season knew their roles, they were just given too much new shit to learn.

  • @turisas1234 no he isn't told to shot that many shots, your are misinformed. He forces up shots still. I am glad the triangle is gone, that offense ruins so many players offensive skills. Hopefully Coach Mike Brown improves this team.

  • Hope you watch this Kobe.

  • I miss Chick

  • DALLAS OWNS YOU LA!

  • @DallasSportsTroll Dallas coach says Dirk is one of the 10 greatest NBA players of ALL TIME?!?! Pretty sure there's at least 10 guys on this team who would say different. If the Mav's make it to the Finals, hope they at least beat the Heat!

  • ....and @ 4:38 is one of my favorite passes by Magic. great video

  • @ 2:44 gotdamnit, i loved it when magic would do it to 'em like that!!!

  • Kareem's hook shot is a lost art.

  • @MrMarders39 not in my game, skyhooks all day

  • @MrMarders39 since almost all the centers are all bulky, that changed with guys like ewing and shaq

  • @MrMarders39...a lost art? you're implying that it was a common way to shoot the ball...there's never been, and there will never be an unstoppable shot, like Kareem's sky hook...

  • lakers, celtic, heat and bulls won me £1750 last night! god bless america!

  • Lakers. Showtime. Great players and teams. Madness abounded with the incredible number of fine ladies who showed up whenever the Lakers were in your town to play.;-) And Laker parties with the young ladies during the playoffs.;-) LOL. Dem wuz the daze!!!;-)

  • This just made my fuckin day!!!

  • I just love the music and all the clips put together.. great video

  • THE BEST TEAM IN HISTORY.

    NO DOUBT!

  • @MrMagic002 1996 bulls best team ever no doubt

  • Magic, Worthy, Kareem, Scott, Green, with Cooper, Thompson et al coming off the bench. I dont think any NBA team will ever be that stacked again. 00-01 Lakers team or maybe Magics 79-80 team, were the only ones that I think could have stayed with them. 86 Celtics, 82 Sixers or Jordan's 72-win team maybe.

  • magic is the true master of the no look pass

  • @2:40 What!?

  • i bet it sucked being a camera man back then back and fourth and back and fourth........... and back and fourth.................

  • SHOWTIME....that is all

  • NICE VIDEO IM A HARD CORE LAKER FAN ALSO GOOD TASTE OF MUSIC I ALSO PUT A SLIDE SHOW OF MY LAKER GEAR ON YOU TUBE CHECK IT OUT ONCE AGAIN DOPE ASS VIDEO

  • I grew up watching The Detroit Pistons in the late 80's and the time use to be so angry @ Los Angeles Lakers of the 80's lol, my cousins in L.A teased me but just watching their offense was a thing of grace through you tube. I am sorry this new Big 3 i don't if Pat Riley is trying to ressurect Showtime, but Those Lakers were unique, that offense flowed, Magic, Kareem, Worthy,Thompson,Cooper, and Magic@the helm his Vision and creativeness unmatched,For 8yrs i am a present day Laker Fan,Showtime# 1

  • No opponent knew where Magic was gonna pass, and judging from 0:53, neither did James Worthy

  • fuck the miami big 3,showtime big three bitches! magic, kareem, and worthy

  • Perfect music from back in the day!!! Btw, I met the group, Midnight Star, before an outdoor concert in Ohio. Nice peeps. Thanks for posting!!!

  • good video, but the song is gay.

  • Maaaaaaaan I miss those days!!!!! Look at that team go! Magic made everyone look awesome - even Kurt Rambis! :0)

  • What's the name of the first song in this video?

  • @pollalegendgol : 'Request Line'

  • watch?v=6oalRMfkmKs

  • Man! Magic be dropping dimes like crazy

  • The new look Heat need to run this type of offense. With LBJ and Wade running in the fastbreak, that would be something else.

  • show time

  • Amazing team

  • One word:

    F I N E S S E!!!

  • haha its OJ

  • the adrian branch dunk @ 1:03 is from '87 methinks...awesome vid nontheless

  • Really nice video. Well produced

  • Very, cool. I do miss Chick. I compare all other teams to the 80's Lakers ... they are just lacking. I do admire the Rockets, Bulls, Sixers, Suns, and of course the Celtics (and many others) for bringing out the very best in this phenomenal team. It wasn't so much that they were great, it was that they had to beat incredible teams to get there.

  • omg magic was insane, i wasnt born during the showtime era but i can see y people say magic is the 2nd greatest jus behind jordan

  • @xekit magic is the greatest forget jordan

  • @2:44 what Magic did to that guy was not right lol

  • The defence are definitely not much tougher now days.

  • Awesome vid

  • This is a really great video.

  • @brnbeachbum86 my good friend noticed by way of my good friend that he gotten much better in basketball after making use of "50inch vertical [dot] com" - maybe this will help

  • brnbeachbum86 nice vid, reminds me of someone I know - me - lol. I'm 5 8 and I am able to 180 dunk. I used the famous training workout that real nba players use. For more info about the training program, go to - "50inch vertical (dot) com"

  • brnbeachbum86 Play basketball? Then you have to take a look at - (50 inch vertical [dot] com). You must take a look! I m 5 5 and started dunking after 5 weeks of the training!

  • I love the choice of Music!

  • Great video, thanks!

  • this team was one of the best!!!!

  • 13 boston fans

  • Credit to expiredpineapples, who made this clip.

  • Hypnotic!!!!

  • Can you say stacked? Best PG ever, top 3 center of all time, quickest SF in the league, best defender in the league, great depth and bench (Scott, Woolridge, Rambis, Wilkes), top 3 coach of all time, and most important of all...a Virgin in A.C. Green. Makes you think about the 2010-11 Heat team being "too stacked"...Riley knows what he's doing.

  • showtime lakers of the 80's just will run teams off the court

  • i wish i was part of the old school showtime but at least i see the new school

  • did anyone else notice a player from 1:04-1:07 wearing #24. it so weird seeing that since kobes been rocking that number

  • Lakers the best forever. <3

  • THe Lakers Showtime of the 80's was basketball elevated to the highest level ever. It transformed sport into art. A talented orchestra led by the finest conductor; The Magic Man, What a sweet symphony, indeed.

  • Awesome tribute. I've been a Lakers fan since I was a kld - my Dad turned me on to them back in the early 80s. They never disappoint. Thanks for the brief history!

    Cheers!

  • Man. I was born in '92, so i wasnt alive to watch this. I'm a Dieheart laker fan right now, but watching this video makes me like speechless....

  • Team basketball at the best! Damn it feels good to be a Laker fan...

  • I HAVE TO ADMIT I GREW UP IN DETROIT WAS A PISTON FAN BAD BOY 188,89,90,91, BUT THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS MY CUZIN THAT LIVED IN L.A THRU IT MY FACE I LUV THE NEW LOS ANGELES LAKERS BUT JUST WATCHING THIS VIDEO I ALSO RESPECTED THE 80'S LAKERS, THEIR OFFENSE WAS JUST THE WORD " MAGICAL " IT FLOWED SO PERFECT EVEN THOUGH THEIR WERE BIG STARS, YOU COULD SEE THEY WERE DRIVEN TO WIN DIDN'T CARE WHO SCORED, THE LEAGUE ADJUSTED NOT EVEN THE FAMED BOSTON CELTICS COULD TAKE THEM DOWN HAD TO BE DETROIT

  • 6:19 is that OJ Simpson? Wtf! I would have been scared sitting next to him.

  • @yomasta4ever That was when he was on top of the world having recently retired from the NFL. He was appearing in commercials, pitching endorsements left and right, and getting big parts in films. That was way before his troubles began so how would you have known what he was capable of? He would've just been "The Juice" to you, like he was to everyone else. GOD if only he knew how his life would turn out...tsk tsk tsk!

  • @coloniaIVU uh... it's called i'm a psychic! easy prediction for me :p OMG that's why brett favre doesn't wanna quit football!! he knows what awaits him. murderrr...

  • @yomasta4ever HA ha, good one! After what's happened to him recently with those broads and the lewd texts and photos I'll definitely be on the lookout for murder...SIKE!

  • The team that kicked Boston's Celtic Asses for the very first time! I could never get enough of this Lakers Team! And similar to the Lakers Team that kicked the Celtic Asses not too long ago, the '85 team had vengeance on their minds when facing the Celtics! And also, the '85 team was a stepping stone to all Lakers Teams in the future to encourage them to never fear the Celtic Green!

  • Good thing MJ wasnt born 5 years earlier or there wouldnt be no showtime...be more like showstopper.

  • @level13statedept Sorry, but no. That '85 Laker squad was so deep, even one man wrecking crew Jordan couldn't handle that much talent. Besides, he didn't win the hardware until his 7th season; when the Lakers and Celtics' powerhouse teams of the 80's were already on their way out.

  • @level13statedept If Michael Jordan came to the Bulls in 1979 instead of 1984(5 years earlier), he wouldn't be sniffing the NBA Finals! Back when Bird and Dr. J were in their primes do you think that "His Airness" could have gotten the Bulls out of the East? And then if the time ever came for the Bulls to go to the Finals back in the Early 80's, he would then have to face a rejuvenated Kareem along a very young Magic Johnson to contend with in the Finals. MJ would've been "Dust in the wind".

  • GREAT STUFF !

  • The greatest team of all time, the "Super 3" won't be better than this team ever will.

  • What a pefect mix of songs to go along with some of the most beautiful basketball ever played.

It's a shame the NBA is not like this anymore. Showtime forever.

  • Comment removed

  • brnbeachbum86 I am 5 9 and I dunk in my highschool team games. I m in my high school's bball team and my dunking excites everybody (the girls lol). It was truthfully really easy, I just followed the unique workout over at (50 inch vertical [dot] com) - I m sure you can probably do it too

  • @Miko50000 lmao

  • I became a Laker Fan just before Magic Johnson Joined the Lakers. I got to Experience The "Showtime" Years with Chick Hearn calling all the Games. We Really are Lucky to Still have Championship Teams later. The Purple and Gold always and Forever.

  • Happy Laker fan I am today....and I go back to the West/Chamberlain era when I was a kid.....been a fan ever since. Good to see these highlights....this was basketball. Regarding the shorts, well....for decades that's how the shorts were and no one thought anything about it. For some odd reason, that changed in the mid-90s. I tell you one thing, you could run a heckuva lot better in those things...and I think they look better too, especially with the cool long socks and white shoes! : )

  • And 25 years later, the Lakers exacted the same amount of revenge on the Boston Celtics as they did back in 1985 when the Lakers kicked the Celtics' Asses for the very first time in the NBA Finals. LAKERS BACK-TO-BACK BABY! 2010 World Champions.

  • Ah, these were the good days! People don't pass the ball like this anymore. There's not much ball movement in NBA games. Players are just driving to draw the foul.

  • @bemelodious How we miss Magic and Bird and that incredible team passing game of the 80's, the golden era of basketball. (Nowadays only a few european players have that sense of the game, you can see Pau Gasol in LA, but with ten times less talent).

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 2010 nba champs

  • @colinvoybarker And 25 years later, history repeated itself as the Lakers got revenge on the Celtics!

  • man this video never gets old.

  • BEST ever!!!!!!! as in EVER

  • Basketball Greatness ! Its Showtime !

  • I remember that Kings game. They were scoreless for the entire first quarter.

  • everything LA is gay!

  • @thISmurderous no my friend San Francisco is gay. L.A is great!

  • I grew up watching the Lakers back in the 80s, watched the struggle of the 90s, watched the Lakers dominate again early 2000 for a three-peat, and now the domination of Kobe. But nothing compares to watching the Showtime Lakers! Magic, Worthy, Cooper, Scott...and the Capt! Laker Fan 4Eva!

  • @TREKKMUNKY we got a new showtime now..kobe,pau,shannon,blake,odom

  • @fatpatlives1998

It's nothing like the old Showtime.

  • @TREKKMUNKY yeah , the 80s were great . nut let's move on shall we ? that was over 20 yrs ago . the defence are much tougher now days . lakers still have showtime type of player . u go kobe , shannon , lamar n the most importanly the team work . magic days were awesome , but let's juz focus on now . ok

  • @heavyrain24

Defense is much weaker now days. Do research please.

80-90's zone and physical tough-ness = impenetrable compared to today's wimple touch fouls.

  • @heavyrain24 How old are you? You must be one of these idiots who thinks anything that happened 10 seconds (let alone 20 yrs) ago is ancient history.

I'm only 29 y.o., but thank God I have enough maturity not to "juz focus on now". By the way, it's spelled "just"

  • I was lucky to be 10 years old when the Lakers drafted Magic Johnson. My dad bought season tickets to the Lakers the day he was drafted. I saw aproximately 30 Laker home games a year plus playoffs during the 1980's. No words can describe how awesome this team was to watch when that fast break was going off. They would always demoralize a team with a 15-0 run, or 18-0 run. It was fantastic

  • damn watching the lakers in those days must have been the shit...i mean its dope watching em now already....but i mean we get stuck watching kobe play....but this was a whole team....not just one guy that catches our eyes

  • Adoro questa squadra!!!!!!!

  • brnbeachbum86 If you play bball at all, you have to take a look at this - 50inch vertical[dot]com - It's a specialized training workout that will def help you begin dunking without even going to the gym , it's optional!

  • I think the current Laker team should watch this before every game just for motivation...

  • カッコイイ!

  • This was when the Lakers were badass!!

  • Go L.A.Lakers!

    Ciao dall'Italia :)

  • lucky to be a laker fan^__^

  • The best videi I've seen in years. That was the golden age of basketball plus Boston Celtics and MJ of course. By the way bro the music incredible! Excellent

Could you give me the name of the songs please?

  • brnbeachbum86, this video reminds me of why I play basketball, along with all the dunking. If you can't dunk yet, you have to start practicing. I highly recommend you to try the program I'm using - (50 inch vertical [dot] com) - I m 5 7 and I can dunk!

    Los Angeles Lakers Showtime

  • It 's showtime!!!~wow

  • Sorry for all those Bulls fans but Showtime was better than those Bulls teams

    SHOWTIME the best

  • @TheJDMVP Chill lay off the meds there buddy. NOTHING was better than those Jordan Bulls teams. don't get it twisted homie those teams were the best the NBA ever saw.

  • @raulrln77 Hell no, you must be on crack if you think the bulls teams were better then showtime. Bulls just had Jordan and Pippen and Rodman., We are talking about OVERALL team, if Magic didnt retire he would have won more championships then the bulls.. and would be a completely better team then Bulls.

  • @raulrln77 Um, no. The Jordan Bulls couldn't have beaten the 80s Celtics, let alone the 80s Lakers. How were they going to guard Kareem in the half court? Remember, when the Bulls played Shaq or Karl Malone they were able to double team those guys b/c the overall team of the Jazz or MAGIC were weak. But the Lakers started 3 HOFs, 1 All-Star & brought All-Stars off the bench. No double-teaming. Luc Longley vs. Kareem?

The Lakers overall depth (Byron averaged 20 as the 4th option) was overwhelming

  • @raulrln77 Honestly, I think the 90s Bulls were great, but I doubt they could take Showtime to 6 games in a series, let alone beat them. I'm looking at depth, match-ups & ability to play multiple styles. The 80s Lakers were great on the break & in halfcourt. The Bulls were the best defensive team ever, and an unorthodox offense w/ the greatest player ever, but also a lot of weak link players

    My list:

    1) Showtime

    2) 80s Celtics

    3) 90s Bulls

    4) Early 80s 76ers

    5) 60 Celtics/Shaq-Kobe Lakers

  • wooo yo brnbeachbum86 that is unbelievable yo if you're interested in learning to dunk you have to see this now - 50inch vertical[dot]com

    holla at me later brnbeachbum86

  • brnbeachbum86 you play ball? you have to take a look at this - (50 inch vertical [dot] com) - It's a specialized training plan that will def help you start dunking and you don t even need to go to the gym if you don t want to!

    Los Angeles Lakers Showtime

  • they tall as fuck LOL

  • dude im 16 and i never see in da nba that they play team work like this i see ball hogger and shit

  • that`s were called team work ^_^

  • The best team ever.

  • great great great song collections
