I have stormdrum and I really like those percussion instruments you used. I can't find them in my stormdrum library. What one was it (I know one was Taikos ambient, and one was probably Big Hits, but I can't find the one that sounds like bongos.)

@Garudanime i dont understand what you mean about bad mastering. maybe eq the drums a little bit but thats all i noticed. and even thats a matter of taste really. if this was a hip hop beat then yes, you would want to master it alot better but for an orchestral track i think it sounds good. then again im listening on sony headphones (and not the good ones) the only thing i would change from what i heard, would be to fade the drums in and out to build tension

@Garudanime just so you and others know, mastering is a completely different thing than mixing. you are referring to mixing when you hear the volume discrepancies in the instruments, mastering has nothing to do with individual instrument's volume or placement in the mix (it can be used to help even a mix out with compression and EQ but that means the mix was poor in the first place).

hey! super lied! du weißt wirklich WIE musik "funktioniert" !

ich bin ein neueinsteiger in EastWest und habe es noch nicht installiert... forweg daher meine frage: Wird EastWest auch durch MIDI Out channels "gesteuert" also das yeder midi out - channel ein instrument zugewiesen wird (bei "edirol" ist dies so) ich hoffe du verstehst was ich meine! ... falls es nicht so ist kannst du mir vielleicht sagen wie ich es zu bedienen habe :D

danke erstma ! also bei der Version die ich habe wird jedes Instrument einem Midiout-channel zugewiesen. Es gibt auch sogenannte Playversionen von Eastwest, bei denen bin ich mir nicht sicher. Hatte noch keine von denen vor mir.

O wow, I didn't even know that fruityloops can actually make orchestral tracks. That's VERY cool! Are you using only one sample for the entire strings section? Dang that is some nice brass sounds...I want it!

you have to find the ColossusVST.dll (explorer)

in fl: options, file settings, and select the folder you found the colossus dll, or copy the dll in the folder wich is selected by fl

Only downside is the huge amounts of RAM you need to make complex arrangements. Anything less than 4 and you won't be able to let loose your creative flair. I've only got 8 atm but I'm working to hopefully get a studio server set up with well over 50gigs all together, using multiple units as storage and memory, linking them with giga studio or something similar, you seriously need that much considering the orchestra pack alone is around 130GB

In the scheme of things 500 bucks isnt alot for something as marvelous as the SD2 pack. I bought the Platinum collection that cost me 4200, but i mean, for over 700 gigs worth of samples, recorded by custom built equipment and spending millions to sequence and cut it up and record it properly, its a bargain man. Best purchase of my life.

Thats exactly what I paid... and that's in US$. I'm charged 1800AU (australian) and I live in Canada... so yes, as you said, its not really cheap... But I don't know for how long i'm going to use this (If i'm satisfied) but it sure will be for a LONG time.

Whats nice is that I saved almost the same as I bought it which is roughly 1500$ US (normally all 7 items would total around 3K$...ouch)

It should pay off in the long term.

colossus/goliath are compilations of samples of the other libraries. some instruments are great, some suck ^^ i dont think that they containe exclusiv samples. eg the solo instruments of colossus could be better,

perhaps goliath includes some gypsysamples... you can look up the samplelibrary of goliath at eastwestsamples. com.
