So unforgettable performance. May God bless her and Boccherini.Thank you. So favourite. I adore cello and my cousin plays viola da gamba. Regards, Sergio.
The very first time I heard this piece, I knew immediately that I simply HAD to learn it... and guess who was playing it?? Jacqueline du Pre. It was simply awe-inspiring. Now that I've reached the level of skill necessary to play this piece, I'm going to ask my teacher to teach it to me. Just thought I'd share that little anecdote about myself. Thank you for posting this video =)
Thank you : ) I know what you mean. I first heard Moonlight Sonate by Beethoven when I was a child. No one in my family was playing on any kind of instrument, they are all engineers. But I heard it and I KNEW nothing will be the same. It was actually first piece I learned to play on piano. This cello concerto I also heard as a young girl. And it marked me inside. Along with Elgar this is the best thing Jackie ever performed. Good luck with your playing! We should chase our dreams. Greetings.
she plays whith her emotions flowing into the cello and it comes out through the strings, I think her and Glenn Gould share the same feeling with music. haha im only 15 so i dont know much about music, but from what i can understand with classical music, is that to make a piece sound unique and have it diverse of other pieces is ignoring all the musical notation and play what you feel sound beautiful to you, after all people play music because they enjoy it.
humm...its so sad how everyone talks about yo yo ma when Du Pre is much better, im shocked to see the number of views on this video, so very low for its exellence.
Aww, thank you! I'm so glad when people appreciate my videos : ) but actually this is my most preferred video. Others have less luck. Anyway, this is next to Elgar, my favourite performance by Jackie. Thank you also for the invite, it is always a pleasure to meet someone who loves such music. Greetings.
Precisely, I thought the same as you yesterday. I was listening to this version in a radio programme in Mexico called "The other version" where different musicians' performances are compared. Jacquelinne's has nothing to do with others'. Sounds as if the cello was suffering.
i dont claim to know much about music, but many people like many diffrent types of music, they know what they like to listen to, so their music is real to them in my opinion. what we think is amazing someone else may think is very dull, music is many many things and differs from person to person
lol it took me a bit to figure out what u ment. im guessing your saying yo yo ma does music for publisity? yo yo is not bad in my opinion, acctually very good. Jacky is better for her time and if she was alive she'd probably be the best still. the only way for real music to exist to me is play with emotion, you cant have stiff feelings while you play. you just have to soak your feelings/mind into the music as you play. it gives it more enpases (or however you spell it) makes it more fullfilling
...and what is 'the real music' for you? Isn't it a fact that the musician is transforming his perfectly performed concert with his truly emotions fully into the audiences? But this is the show ;)
¡¡¡SIEMPRE SERÁS LA ÚNICA Y MAYOR DIOSA DEL CELLO Y LA MÚSICA!!! GRACIAS POR TU INCOMPARABLE ARTE GENIO-

hahahaha thank you very much too bad I am stumped when it comes to jazz, swinging the notes just seems out of my reach lol : (

Swing is great but other styles in jazz are also not in my taste. Fortunately, there is many things in music to listen to (hallelujah LOL)

very right, jacky is much better than yo yo ma, there are so many people , who think they know what is really music but they don´t know ANYTHING...

okey, i was wrong, but sometimes i´m very angry because some musicians make music only for show... and the real music can´t excist so...

Gruetzmacher made this movement so much better! And Jacqueline Du Pre playing it! Nothing better.
