Simply put, if they would have kept Omar alive they would have stayed 100% true to his character and how is and to do that they'd of had to have him Kill Chris, Snoop, Slim Charles, Cheese & Marlo... But if that had happened it would of derailed everything the BPD & FBI was working towards, which was a monumental case... Cont'd

It took me a while to come to this conclusion my first time finishing season 5 but I believe that it's the best explanation for them choosing the type of ending they did..

They also wouldn't really have anything to salvage to help their purpose.. It was a tough decision the writers had to make but I think it was the right one in the end... On the Season 5 DVD's they should have written and filmed an alternative ending!

Oh, you bastards! I had like 6 episodes left in season 5. I found out Omar gets killed (which I really wasn't sure would happen) Then I saw the scene. Damn! I should know better than to watch this stuff if I don't wanna see spoilers. I just couldn't resist!!!

@bachaka61 Actually, that's the most respectful way for him to go. Omar wouldn't lose to anyone he deems a real threat. He only let his guard down because Kenard was a tiny little kid.
Remember when Omar was stuck on the 3rd or 4th floor against Michael and Snoop and jumped to get away? Would you prefer he died that way?
