Fascinating video. I love the experiment with the long tube, where the kea has to do something different at each level to get the food to fall. I feel they overuse the chess-game analogy, though, by playing that same footage of the chess game reflected in the bird's eye too frequently. Otherwise, an amazing part. On to the next one!
i do work xp in a zoo here in NZ and the 2 Kea we have here are 30 years old and arn't too interested in puzzles cos they're about 30 years old and loose curiosity (in the wild they're lucky to get to 15) and we had one that died last year which was somewhere between 50 and 65 years old (zoo records weren't that great in the past so not quite sure)
the sad news about Kea's is the novelty of living with them wears off quickly. They are amazingly smart and more cleaver than a lot of people I know their addiction to shiny things is maddening
@suddenlyitsobvious we became who we are today because of evolution, if it werent for evolution we would still be bacteria, u dumb ass. its amazing the fact that these birds evolved to be this smart, obviously you havent evolved at all.
Yeah, so believers like you believe. Do you even understand your own mantra's? You've been taught this stuff from the cradle & judging from your mediocre uninformative post you are obviously not intellectually equipped to check any of the science behind it. Have you any thoughts fi on the Cambrian evidence that remained locked away ...
@suddenlyitsobvious wow you use allot of big words there lol, i do understand every single one of them and before you start throwing punches consider your opponent lol i am a uni student doing a science degree lol you mention the Cambrian evidence, did you also fail to consider that the theory of evolution is a THEORY. you obviously haven't considered that theories can be changed and modified based on evidence presented. one day the theory of evolution will be updated to include that...
' one day the theory of evolution will be updated to include that...'
Include WHAT? The ToE is basically being 'updated' by the minute you silly puffball.
So 'smart' ass, why don't you share with the thousands of viewers what you think about C-value enigma so we can actually attempt to have an exchange rather than having to deal with your silly slogans?
Would you agree that is is peculiar to say the least...
... that science simply upholds that size of 'genome' is apparently unrelated to the complexity of organisms and that as a result puffballs like you are taught that it simply is a fact of life that some amoebe have a genome several hundred times the size of a human genome?
@suddenlyitsobvious it is also clear that during that time there was clearly a lack of evidence that Darwin could have presented to support the Cambrian evidence, any theory that does not have enough evidence to back it up is considered false, think of the times as well, during that time the Darwin work has considered heresy as it went against Gods teachings. bringing anything to light that spoke differently to the bible was extremely risky...
@suddenlyitsobvious and based on the theory of evolution you asked if its mutation or natural selection... its both and the theory of natural selection also includes mutation as a factor, those with preferred characteristics, whether it be from genes or mutation, will reproduce and continue to survive while those with unfavorable phenotypes are wiped out. FYI the Piltdown discovery was a fraud, the 'fossil' was a human skeleton with the jaw of an orangutan. i win this argument...
... that Darwin could have presented to support the Cambrian evidence'
The issue that i brought up and that any reasonably informed individual must be aware of is that the Cambrian evidence unearthed by Walcott, evidence that WENT AGAINST the ToE was shelved for 70 years because it couldn't be fitted into the authoritative narrative.
' consider your opponent lol i am a uni student doing a science degree lol'
And??? If you can't even formulate the psychotic drivel...
@suddenlyitsobvious LOL i laugh at you and your stupid questionares lol, what r u a professor of dicks lol, this is supposed to be a discussion based on two peoples views and your carrying on like a 5 year old, you may be smart and all but with that attitude you will get no where, especially a smug attitude like yours. slogans what slogans, read the bloody texts its there, your just too stuck up to even consider if what the other person is right. you must have some severe insecurities...
Oh, it's about attitude now, is it? YOU initiated insult while bringing up no content or argument. As was clear from the start, and as I already pointed out, you are not intellectually equipped to grasp the science and its flaws at the basis of the evolution-narrative, and have made it perfectly clear with your last post that you(re lightyears away from being able to debate it.
So don't, at least not with me. Proceed with your whining if you wish, but do so to someone else.
@suddenlyitsobvious the reason why i didnt mention the c value enigma is because there is no relevance to the current topic, its just an explanation of a paradox that had an unanswered question which was resolved in the 1970s by the discovery of non coded DNA thus converting to the what is known as the c value enigma, the size of a genome has nothing to do with the number of genes, there is no proportion for it because it varies. and theories do change
@suddenlyitsobvious i would like you to name a theory that hasnt changed that existed before 2006??? hmmm all of them have changed to a varying degree. ACTUALLY you insulted first with that absurd comment about the vid, who gives a shit if you are tired of these videos if you dont like it then why the hell did you watch it, is it so you can hate yourself some more or is it because you are dieing for attention lol this is hilarious, because i know you are sitting at your desk pissed off.
@suddenlyitsobvious It is probably safe to say that not a single theory is beyond the possibility of change in the future. This is in the nature of scientific exploration.though our understanding of things changes over time, there is progress. This is not suggesting that every current theory WILL change in time; it is possible that some of our theoretical formulations are solid enough to continue for centuries without significant change.
@suddenlyitsobvious It was widely believed in antiquity that the earth was flat; it was later believed that earth was at the center of the solar system. It was believed that the universe was basically a static structure consisting of one galaxy. Most of Newtonian mechanics has been re-framed by Einstein's relativity, and there is a possibility that Einstein will be supplanted by Quantum Theory.
@suddenlyitsobvious that what i just said supports my point of theories that change.... on that note i am leaving this pointless convo and i shall see you within the next millennium lol btw my name is michael and nice meeting you :D feel free to message me via my page if you want lol doubt you will though your too stubborn it seems good night
Unfortunately your vulgar post is uninformative & therefore not conducive to debate. What's the matter son? Did you get your schlort fondled by some priest? That isn't MY fault...
@suddenlyitsobvious Gee, what an intelligent and insightful response! Then again coming from a sub human who can't even understand evolutionary theory, it's not a big surprise.
Protecting the bird but creating more and more complicated defenses for your garbage just makes the species even smarter. It's a virtuous/vicious cycle.
