I think their songs are still fresh and would do very well today. Our current music today is stale and is see the trend of new artist using the 80's style.
We had a lot of cool bands in St. Louis about 18 years ago. WTF happened????
I use to play bass guitar for Eye Scream and miss the open mic nights at Kennedy's and the High Point.

This is CRAP!!! What the fuck.. Sissy ass music! i thought this was the KICK ASS DOOM METAL BAND PALE DIVINE! instead i see the fags.. Bullshit! To bad they lost their name!! hahahahahah Now "the eyes" haha sissy!
This video is about 18 years old! They were "The Eyes" originally, and then changed it to Pale Divine when they got a national recording contract. You may not like their style, but they were a very good talented band. In fact, the lead singer is a friend, and a really good guy. The guitar player, by the frigging way, now plays with Guns "N Roses! There is no need to be so abusive to others on here. If it's not what you were looking for, go find what you like. No comments needed.
Yes you can get the PALE DIVINE BOX SET, it has Freedom and DVD's I just got mine in the mail today and I am watchig it>>> THIS IS AWESOME!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!!
I keep posting but it doesn't seem to update. The old Pale Divine website has been resurrected and it appears they might have plans to sell the demo's I was offering along with some possible video. Therefore everyone will have to wait. I can promise you it's worth every penny when they decide to offer it. Google "theeyes-paledivine" I wish them the best of luck.
FYI: I have a CD copy of The Eyes, another one listed as "demos" which I believe were for the first album, one listed as "second album demos" and 2 CD's of live shows but Richard is replaced with the guitarist from another band (Suave Octopus/Rainbox guitarist maybe?) If, and only if, I get permission from one of the band members I would be willing to post them on a torrent for downloading. It would be nice if someone did the same for the vids. =)
Ha. Oh my god. I'm so suprised that they have these videos. I didn't think they were that popular to be on youtube...go uncle micheal! Yah, the lead singer, micheal schaerer, is my uncle. I'm not shitting you. His sons name is lucas, he's about 6 or 7 and his wifes name is ursula. They don't play anymore. :(
With all do respect, you don't have ot be popular to be on youtube! Hell i posted my band and not only we were we not popoular we also sucked bad.. Pale Divine was awesome.
ANNOUNCEMENT!!!! GOOD NEW AND BAD NEWS. I have located a cassette with 13 demos recorded by Pale Divine after Straight To Goodbye was released. Bad news is some of the sound quality isn't great, the cassette was banging around in storage for 7 years, But the songs are awesome. Burn Like The Sun is a monster song that would have been a hit.
oh man, you don't know how happy i am to see this vid clip! thank you because the eyes were one of my fav bands from st. louis and followed them through pale divine. my brother and i had a cassette from the eyes original album and fell instantly in love! if anyone has a cd copy of the eyes original album, please let me know!
To PALE DIVINE/The Eyes ... thanks for doing that radio promo for my show The TODD Sampler on KDHX way back when, I wish I had the recording of that! I've been hanging on to my vinyl 12" of the "Something About You" remixes and enjoying it ...
I saw these guys at Kennedy's and was struck at how professsional and ready they were. The songs, the look, the sound...my friend who played bass in another St. Louis era band (Jake's Leg) told me, "you got to see this guitar player...feedback!"). They should have been huge.
i just found their album STRAIGHT TO GOODBYE here in PHOENIX in a cut out bin with a lot of other 90's bands that didn't "make it" I snagged it up for $5
Where this video come from?! I know that The Eyes had a friend who video taped just about every gig they played, but didn't know what ever happened to all that tape. This show was actually not in '89 but sometime in '91 or '92. I know this because I started to see them in '89 and Michael had changed the lyrics to this song. The lyrics in the video were not what was originally in the song, he changed the way he sang this sometime after '91.
Yeah I just found out about that! That is such a shame.Channing must have had hours and hours. Went and saw Michael at the Tin Can last week, it was good to hear him again, he still sounds great. Kinda missed all the smoke and lights though. Ha ha.
Cool. Trying to remember how I got one of their CDs when I lived in Iowa. It was a "cut out" and a record store owner I knew loaned it to me one night. I liked it so much, it stuck in my head and I went back and bought it from him the next week. Good stuff.
We swap a lot of MP3's at work and this guy let me copy his hard drive..You won't beleive it but The Eye's CD is on there. None of the songs are labeled though. Some of them carry over to the Pale Divine release but the rest of them I can't remember the names. Any help out there?
I have both cd's Freedom in a Cage as well as St, plus hiding some where in my mess of cassettes I have some live shows on tap as well as the demos for what was to be the second major label release, Burns Like The Sun is one of the best songs ever recorded.
This is awesome. I'll have to check out the Tin Can. I pretty much lost touch with the local scene when Kennedys closed. Someone post more of this stuff!
I saw Michael at the Tin Can last night for the first time since the Pale Divine days. He plays there every couple of weeks, and has a lot of fun. It's very laid back, and it's cool to hear some of those old PD/Eyes tunes again. His solo stuff is pretty good, too. And it's never a bad time to go to the Tin Can.
My cousin Marsha and I spent a lot of time at Kennedy's which having been all over the world, is still my favorite place to see a show. We followed The Eyes and their lyrics still inspire. I hope they boys are all well....Lisa
Michael always thought of himself as a rock star lol. Anyway these vidios bring back memories of the many times I saw them at Kennedys and Mississippi Nights.Rich was always the guy who looked hot, and was genuinely nice to the fans. He was a friend of mine at that time, and style icon without the rockstar attitude, but he could play like one. That must be the reason hes touring all over the world now. By the way, where is Michael?
richard is a very nice fellow,i talk to him a bit these days and even though he is in one of the biggest bands in the world he is always humble.nice guy and my guitar idol.
ok i got into this band the other day after looking for doom n wow what a great band this vids a bit iffy but go to their myspace to check out their songs they blew me away
Are you sure you've got the right Pale Divine? There are two. There's this one which was a band that was together in the late eighties and early nineties that recorded one CD for Atlantic records and there'e the Doom Metal band that is still currently togther in PA somwhere. I think latter is the band you're looking for, not this one.
he he oop dear your right sorry i made a lil cock up there but yeah this bands cool to thanks for correcting me i was thinking this was a more primative version of em

Is that...Richard Fortus from Guns n' Roses with the curly hair, on lead guitar ??

@TheGlow101 - Yes, the person to the far right of the screen is Richard Fortus who is currently with Guns n' Roses.

Unfortunately most of the videographer's tapes were destroyed in a fire. Only the few copies that were given to band members and friends survive.
