One of Michael Pinder's finest moments, with the group throwing in enthusiastically, playing mostly unfamiliar instruments. Listening to the ecstatic vocal fadeout, I feel a lot like the exalted fellow on the album's (In Search of the Lost Chord) cover!
Dont forget to look up Mike Pinder on you tube to see hows he been. You'll like it.i going to look up Ray Thomas tonight.Rum nd Coke here i come...Thanks moodies for the music...
I remember buying this album (In Search of the Lost Chord) back in 1968. Back then, there were no MP3 or digital downloads, no compact discs or other fancy techno-crap. I still have that record to this day, although it's now together with a load of vinyl records in a cardboard box in my brother's lock-up. Playing the Moodies music to-day still sounds just as good as it did forty-three years agoand I'm grateful to You-Tube to know there are still many Moodies fans still out there. Blessings !
I wish I could take different songs and make a journey, but which ones. There all so good.I like the idea of putting my head back and fading into the music.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. see LOGOS from the Greek - the rational principle that governs and and develops the universe. Peace to all.
Actually, the spoken part at the beginning is a separate piece of poetry called "The Word", which is meant to preceed the song "OM" as it does here and in the Album (IN SEARCH OF THE LOST CHORD, I believe), but if you try to buy stuff from itunes and the like you will be very disappointed if you only get "OM" without "The Word". The two support and magnify each other and neither was ever intended to stand alone.
I got to see the Moody Blues in 1968....It was pretty amazing. This was one of those songs I would play over and over until I drove my folks crazy - but that was the whole idea wasn't it?
I'm free Tuesday afternoon, and If there's anyone person who needs there brain washed out it's me,Have to admit my thunder was stolen when told about the clothing, I do however have white shoes with matching belt,
OMG... I haven't heard this one in decades. What an amazing piece by the MB's... especially in this long-play video. Wheew... sure brings back the (foggy-fuzzy) memories!
They should play this vid every day before the 6 o'clock news. The country would be in a much better place because of it :-)
Ahh, The Moody Blues are so underrated. Their music is what we will hear in heaven. What other band sings about such quality fruitful things in their music? Oommm...
I started to get teary eyed when I see this clip which to me the Moodies made music so creatively that no other bands have ever come close to the gentle humane of what this band created during their peak. This was one of their best works they arguably had ever done.
just watched/listened to focus hocuspocus, another classic, it occurred to me focus seemed to be in search of the lost chord --- the moody blues music is so beautiful i get all weepy
There is more significance to this song than the psychedelic associations of the 60s. Research: sacred geometry, cymatics, solfeggio frequencies, electromagnetic spectrum. Enjoy THAT trip!
Listen to this in surround sound after smoking some really great hash. Or brownies laced with herb. My favorite song on the "Lost Chord" album. Apologies to the late, great George Harrison, who introduced the Sitar sound on "Sgt. Pepper," but Justin takes playing Sitar to new highs, (pardon the pun). Beautiful flute, tablas, all coming together.
@FergusonTO35 I have liked the Moody Blues for along time. I really like this OM. Every time I listen to this I see your comment. Makes me laugh every time.

The Moodys did start practicing TM before the Beatles, and while the Beatles' influence on the TM movement and world consciousness was far greater, this album is what got me started meditating. It was truly a spiritual awakening.

Yeah...Mike married an American gal and moved to LA (They since divorced and he since remarried, still in the US). He was also uberstressed from fame and religious pursuits. He just needed a break.
He is wearing a black leather shirt, SNUG pants, standing in front of the mic, playing his bass, and glancing to his right, you know how he turns that pretty head of his!! It is a sight to behold, I'll tell ya!! And I know you would love to "be hold" of him right now, Berry!! You'd NEVER let go!! LOL! He probably wouldn't mind at all either!! Just a warm, friendly hug from his biggest fan!!! :D *wink wink*
BTW, we are under a severe thunderstorm warning and it is POUNDING it down outside, but I just gotta watch "For My Lady" before I log off! I must be insane! LOL!!!
Thoroughly indeed!! I was just miffed that they didn't send me a life-sized pic of my Ravishing Ray, dressed in very SNUG jeans, an UNBUTTONED shirt, and barefooted.....oh my stars!!!!! *.* WOWIE!!!!
I'm sorry you're ill. :( If I were closer, I'd bring you a lovely cup of hot tea with honey and a wedge of lemon! But hopefully you will be feeling better very soon. Hey, the MB's are the best medicine in the world, but unfortunately I can't bring them to ya, or else I would! I'm sure as soon as you saw Lodgey stroll through your front door, you would IMMEDIATELY be cured!!!!!
I am glad you brought the correct owner of that sexy voice to my attention! Did you know that my Ray also smokes? He lit one right on stage at the concert I atended. Which btw, was July 1994, not 1993 as I had originally recalled. I pulled out all of my old MB's fan club stuff the other day and found my concert ticket stub. Oh, the sweet memories it brought back. I also have an 8x10 glossy of Lodgey, full length, playing the guitar.
Thank you once again redbaron! I love this song, so mellow and happy!! I used to play it for my youngest baby to help her relax for nap time. That was 20 years ago, and the song will never get old! One of their best!!!
I have listened to In Search on vinyl, there's nothing better. I have all of the Moodies "Core 7" albums on record..quite amazing music, but In Search is my favorite by far.
Intense. I had to search like nothing else to get the CD "In Search Of The Lost Chord", but it was worth it. Now I got the "Core 7" all on CD, remastered. ISOTLC is my favourite...Try listening to the vinyl someday. Trippy! Thanks for the upload!
