  • Cute!

  • ahhh that's cute! Now Otter finish him!

  • They're that easy to domesticate?

  • @amazingdany Well, they're just babies at the time so they're tame. Once they grow up and their natural animal instincts begin to kick in they could very well become dangerous.

  • Matt Smith, this is SO a video for you :D

  • AAAAW!!!!!! baby otter looks like a little cute stuffed animal!!

  • *______*

  • My favourite genus of animals the Mustelids’ and my two favourite members. I have been privilege to work with both when I was a gamekeeper and once or twice since then. But I have never seen the two together till now. Lovely vid thanks for posting.

  • Its like the Redwall books all over again! <3 RIP Brian Jacques u will be missed by all who have come to luv ur books.

  • ...if i had to chose one of them as a pet i would chose a LIGER!!! :P

  • They are cousins in the Mustelid family after all

  • if you got a rat and a mole it will be wind in the willows....

  • i think the otter just wanted a new breed of species..

  • Heh, seems the otter wants to play, but the badger's not so eager... ^_^

  • beautiful creatures, I love these real life stories of two animals that suddenly become close as friends :-)

Take that Disney hahahaaaa (just kidding)

  • so cute i barfed three times!

  • Beautiful anipals :-)

  • Badgers are defensive, not agressive.

Though, they can definately go on the offensive if they think something is a real threat, like any animal (or person) but they rarely back down if shit happens, thus earning their 'agressive' reputation.

They are fine if you earn their trust (like the otter has).

  • gosh their so cute!

  • Mr. Otter and Mr. Badger together again! But where's Mole, Rat, and Toad? :)

  • @velvetsnape Badger ate them :()

  • @velvetsnape for real lol

  • sounds super secret.

  • I guess otters don't understand "Go around"!

  • Mustelines gotta stick together!

  • Otters are twats. They decimate fish stocks in commercial fisheries. Guess whos money goes towards making sure they are ok......fishermens! No one elses.

  • @hussaruk It's not otters, it's the minks I think. Otters don't eat fish to kill time. There was a problem once in england with minks eating the fish.

  • @jakegamesnake dont get me wrong...i love otters but they have caused fisheries to close down because they could not afford otter proof fenceing. i help to shoot minks at a local fishery and they are also a big problem. problem with otters is though...they will kill a 40 pound carp worth thousands of pounds and only eat the head and other little pieces. I saw a 43 pound mirror carp killed by an otter and it was really upsetting especially when there are thousands of roach and bream available!

  • few years later otter will eat the badger :D

  • @JMXXL yeah, that badger would surely kill the otter. Badgers are vicious buggers. Living in the peaks of Colorado, I learned that fast. Now, when my friends and I go camping, we have a list of things to fear. 1.) Aliens. 2.) Badgers. 3.) Crazy People 4.) Mountain Lions 5.) Bears.

That's right, we all agreed we'd rather run into a bear unexpectedly than to deal with a badger. Note that Crazy People are 3rd.

  • @santadog9 otter is stronger then the badger trust me C:

  • @JMXXL No.. I won't. Youtube "bear badger" and watch. Badgers are bad Mofos, and rarely back down. Then try Badger/dog etc..

  • cute : ]

  • And thus the first otter-badger hybrids were created....

  • Total cuteness!!

  • Purdy cute!

  • He's so fluffy ^^, cutie

  • dogs and cats living together ... oh the end of the world ...

  • no wonder these badger cubs are so difficult to rehabilitate. They are nocturnal and as such should be kept nocturnal. Having been involved with some of these cubs and seeing them continuously out during daylight. for the sake of the badgers please stop playing with them as though they were pets!!!!!!and keep them nocturnal you are doing them no favours.

  • @xyz40able have you EVER read the description...you little nature-fanatic?It's a REHAB CENTER!It's obvious that they don't play as pets with the badgers and otters...and I think that they know that the badgers are nocturnal. If you read the description you may notice that after a while they split the group and they rehab the badgers differently...

  • @xyz40able Don't you just LOVE how people even bother to read the descriptions before they bother opening their mouths??? LOL

  • I want to see a Milo and Otis-esque movie about these fellows....

  • The otter squished the badger lol...

So gorgeous...anyone can be friends, just need to get to know one another :D

And yes Skraddypoo, I may be farting butterflies for a while too.

  • so sweet

  • uggghhh cutest thing ever ahhhh

  • Aw, that otter looks so playful.

  • Where's Ratty?

    lol

  • Both animals are Mustelidae’s and have very similar social setups and rules. As well as being very inquisitive and social animals. So it is not uncommon for them to get on well like this. Both badgers and otters have been own as pets by many people. There are hundreds of examples of both living with domestic animals and people.

  • Even badgers can't resist otters.

  • AWWWWW Mustelids unite!!!! :3

  • Cute little bundles of fluff! You just know they're going to stay cuddly and obnoxious their entire lives while we all get wrinkly and old. Spiteful little fuzzballs.

  • Oh this is just too adorable! The peaceable kingdom!

  • I fucking love this!

  • Aww, two of my favorite animals together. The cuteness scale just broke

  • @Ker002 they my 2 favs too :)

  • @Ker002 WHAT A FUCKEN FRUIT ... THE GAYEST COMMENT ON YOUTUBE BYFAR ... FUCK OFF GOOD DAY SIR...

  • @DREMR69 Someone has a little rage problem. Also, you fail as a troll.

  • @Ker002 I KNOW BUT YOU SUCCEDED RIGHT ... JAJAJAJA... FUCKEN FAG...

  • @DREMR69 How can I succeed when I wasn't even trying to troll? And I'm a fag because I like otters and badgers? In that case a lot of people are fags. Frankly, if you have nothing better to do but to go around and throw out pathetic attempts at trolling random youtubers, then you must have no life at all, or a very pitiful one. Also, using all caps just makes you look even more pathetic. I'd say I feel sorry for you, but then I'd be lying.

  • @Ker002 NO ACTULLY U DIDNT HAVE TO TRY U SUCCEDED BY JUST STANDING THERE , NOT TO MENTION THE PART WHERE U LOVE OTTERS AND BADGERS I UNDERSTAND , I MEAN IF I WASNT GETTING ANY PUSSY OR GETTING LAID EVEN BY A HOOKER ID BE PRETTY FAGGITY AND WOULD GO THAT ROUTE 2 BUT I GOT A LIFE AND A WIFE WHO I FUCK EVERY NIGHT , 2 BAD I CANT SAY THE SAME FOR YOU .. O YEAH AND THE CAPS MAKE ME TOTALLY COOL BY THE WAY .. U TROLL...

  • @DREMR69 Poor poor Troll. You fail on a very high level. There are so many stupid things you said in that last reply I dont even know where to begin. Anyway, I'm done with you. Go get laid by your imaginary wife

  • Can anybody please tell me how European Badgers ars as a pet?

  • Alan Lozeau Badger Head taking it up the arse as per usual!!!!

  • They are just darling--this is how it should be--humans helping all critters. Thanks for posting this!

  • Hey PinkHippoClub the only reason I'm looking at animal videos recently is because of reading the tales of Redwall they're my favourite book series =D

  • I love the otter's like 'C'mon, play with mee-eeeee.' While the badger's all 'GET. OFF>. >:I"

  • I wouldn't get within 15 feet of a badger... not even one that had been hand-raised.

  • lol i was like OMG FUCKING RUN YOU DUMB ARSE ITS COMING STRAIGHT AT YOU...then it got closer lol 8D lol its a baby.... pheww

  • I love how the otter wants to play so bad witht he badger lol

  • Name the otter Skipper and the badger Brocktree. :)

  • omg i want an otter

  • CHIRP!

  • Anyone ever read the tales of Redwall? Hmm...

  • Just need ratty and mole and ofcourse Toad.

  • aw, that otter is so sweet, :)

  • "so that the badgers could learn how to do badger things, and the otter could learn how to do otter things"

    So cuuute ! :D

  • I am being knocked out by cuteness. Great video!

  • Hi just woundering what camra did you use to film this great footage

  • sooooooooo cute and thats a lot for a guy to say XD

  • that poor baby badger looked like it was manhandled -pardon the pun- by that otter! they're so cute :D i want one now...which is a bad idea. Go Wildlife for saving those babies!

    -kendra <3

  • the otter looked a little confused at first. "Em, you do know this isn't another otter, right? Oh well!"

  • watch when they get bigger lol

  • can they mate?

  • @torreslou9: "can they mate?"

despite people repping your question down, it's not such an outlandish query IMO.

because although they shouldn't be able to produce offspring, these two are indeed both members of the weasel (mustelid) family, and therefore 'cousins'. looking at their body shapes and diets one can see a number of similarities. main difference is, one went back to the water (part time). the other weasel relative that went back to the water even longer are the seals (pinnipeds).

  • @gigantes1966: Hi, Umm neither badgers or otters are mustelids, the badger is in the genus Meles, and the otter is in the genus Lutra. Calling something a mustelid implys that it is in the Genus Mustela. Don't mean to be a dick, but do a bit more research next time you want to be a smartass.

  • @georgewebb118 No, George... calling something a "mustelid" implies that it is in the family "Mustelidae," for that is what the "Mustelidae" are -- a family. It seems you are confused about the difference between "family" and "genus." And yes, the badger and the otter both belong to the mustelid family as I said originally. So I recommend that you take your own advice about research next time and knock off the name-calling, as well.

  • Gigantes1966 FTW -- otters and badgers are indeed both mustelids, as are weasels, martens, minks, ferrets, stoats, fishers, and wolverines.

  • @tnielsenhayden don't forget the deadly and savage honey badger!!!

  • Badgers... manageable... remember what the chimpanzee did to that one lady's face...

  • Well chimpanzee's are pure unadulterated evil. They hunt bushbabies with spears, eat their own young on occasion, eat other monkeys alive, and rip the faces off anyone who fucks with 'em. I'm really no big fan of the chimps probably because their cruelty is very human like. Yeah I like orangutans and the smaller monkeys, though those will mess up your shit too if you mess with them

  • Have you seen a wild badger, or even just a video? They are the epitome of evil! They would rip your face off if they had the chance and they would probably feed it to their babies!

  • Only if you piss em off. Badgers are more likely to flee than fight. I've seen a cornered badger more than once, and am perfectly aware of the danger they present...when cornered. After we managed to distract the dogs that had the poor critters cornered, the badgers ran off. Chimpanzees however will continue to beat the everloving snot out of you till you're dead or manage to act bigger than they are, but if you're getting the snot beat out of you, chances are acting big will do nothing for you

  • @mattmanofmeat

idiot ,you know nothing about badgers. The ratel or african badger is a fearsome animal that never backs down not even against a Lion but both Lion and Leopard prey on it , it just puts up a hell of a fight for it dies , wouldent you do the same???

The eurpean badger is more docile and shy and never ever attacks people!!! But if you provoke it willl defend itself! Wouldent you do the same/?? Never provoke or challenge a badger this thing can kill a Pitbull with no probem

  • @marC1484

Of course, that didn't stop one guy from finding out that Ratels get along with humans just fine despite their hardcore reputation.

  • Ma'am, you have an excellent taste in pets.

More unique than cats, no stink-glands to worry about, grows to a size still small enough to be manageable.

    I salute you.

  • yessss I love otters and badgers awesome god bless u people who care for these creatures

  • next you should try a tasmanian devil and a wallabe.

  • It's Wind in the Willows IRL!

  • Or Redwall.

  • That has got to be the most patient badger in the world. Must help to be hand raised. But yeah, badgers are normally angrier.

  • badger badger badger badger

  • you sir get a cookie

  • CUUUUUTEE!!

  • wait for the badger to grow up and start badgering people!! lol

  • thats insane! a badger!? i thought they were really mean lol

  • yeah but otters can be quite the little beasts too. so for either one of these animals to be this tame, the owner must be a very patient caregiver.

  • This is very sweet and also a bit sad. If animals can get along then why can't we?

  • badgers are very aggressive in the wild

  • I guess when they grow up around humans they don't see them as threats?

  • badgers are very shy creatures in the wild and would only become aggresive if cornered. These guys are youngsters that have been hand reared until weaned. human contact was then stopped and they reverted to being wild. They have since been released a healthy wild animals - thanks , Secret World Wildlife Rescue

  • @secretworldwildlife

Hopefully that otter doesn't think every badger is that friendly. Or friendly at all. Or isn't deliberately out to kill him. In his sleep.

  • @Spanky00Cheeks

They're very closely related. I'm sure there could be quite a few common body language signals etc.

Plus, being in the same family (mustelidae - weasel, stoat, mink etc.), the otter is FAR from a pushover. They would most probably just give each other some respectful room I'd say.

  • @secretworldwildlife well said, I hate ignorance regarding wild animals such as badgers and foxes ect.

  • @thehantavirus You're thinking of the American badger, Taxidea taxus. This is a Eurasian badger, Meles meles. Their behaviours are very, very different.

  • @thehantavirus No offense, you have no idea what you're talking about. Wild Badgers being "very aggressive" is a myth, they're just incredibly shy creatures.

  • how cool is this video ;-)

  • Omg so cute !

  • this is too adorable!! but then again, all cuteness aside, what animal wouldn't want to be friends with an otter? seriouslly, otters are awesomeness...

  • Not to mention, who's going to mess with you if you have a badger for a friend?

  • @shanon023

badgers are my fave!! I read a book about badgers, they are so choice!!!!!!!!!!

  • Omg this is my new fav video

  • Very sweet.

  • Redwaaaaaaaaaal!

    Eulaliaaaaaaaaaa!

  • lol someone else is a fan of the books :D

  • Haha that what I thought too!!=D

  • LMAO redwall ftw

  • I LOVE THIS!!!!

  • I'll bet that a lot of the "badgers are mean" posters are from the United States. The mostly solitary American badger (Taxidea taxus) is a different species from the sociable Eurasian badger (Meles meles) shown above. Different animals, different behaviours.

  • Honey badgers from africa have killed lions

  • @Crystalwolf78

Myth! Never can this be true ,a lion is just to much for almost any living thing but the badger is no scared from big cats and wil defend its life and offspring with every thing its got.Thats why i love this animal. But it will die if a lion or even leopard want to eat him, I doubt any big cat would go for the ratel if other prey is available. It takes alot to kill it ,it never goes down without a fight.

  • I wanna read Redwall now! lol those are two great animals. I hope they're still doing well.

  • So precious

  • They won't hurt each other. Since they are not in the wild, they won't have those predatory behaviors. In the wild, they are taught early to have survival skills, which is learned, so these two lil' furry critters are in captivity where they don't really need those survival skills because they are being taken care of, and have shelter.

In the wild, this badger would be VERY feisty, even at a young.

  • theyre also both from the weasel family.. theyre too much like cousins to try to harm each other

  • And if they grow op together the probably stay friends, cause they have no idea that the other is another speices.

My badger plays with my 2 big dogs and 4 cats

  • Hey Otterdude1!

I have a tame badger that was hand raise since birth, she is now fully grown and weighs ca 25pounds ie 12kg, she is nice and playful, so the mean thing is way wrong, there are so many myths about badgers thats wrong, any wild animal will try to defend their selfs even badgers, but they wont attack u if u dont try to catch them!!

  • Too bad they're going to kill each other when they grow up. D:

  • Maybe not.

  • Meh. Realistically, fully grown badgers are mean. And otters hate when their fur is touched. I suppose they could just stop seeing each other before it comes to that, though.

  • This is so cute I think I'm going to be farting butterflies for the next week.

  • and you sir, are now one of my favourite commenters on youtube xD

  • hahaha that is so funny

  • hahahalololol

  • @skraddypoo

    hahaha

  • cute! ^-^

  • I just like a Romeo and Juliet story. The kids like each others but their parent thinks differently.

  • Okay, so tell us what happened to them as they got older . . .

  • What a gruesome fight. The badger was tough, but no match for the super otter take-down.

  • More like a doormat than a friend. :)

  • Such an amazing video :D thank you for sharing!

  • What a wonderful and rare sight. That poor badger!
