BroCope, people have been "reading the signs" and predicting the return of Jesus for many hundreds of years, only to be always disappointed. St. Paul obviously didn't believe what you do because he advised new Roman believers not to bother having children because the return of Jesus was imminent. He believed it would happen in HIS generation. So, you could be right and St. Paul could be wrong or vice versa. Or you both could be wrong because you both can't be right!
Jesus instructed us all to live as if the return was imminent. Paul's belief that it would happen in his lifetime was the proper belief. There is going on today something that has never happened before in the history of the world. The Lord is raising up tens of thousands of preachers to go into the streets to preach. Never been done before. Mt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
If you wish to comment on the Bible, you ought to at least read it.
Mt 24:32 ¶ Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
It is the generation that sees the signs He listed out that will not pass away, not Jesus' generation
Although many things Jesus is said to have said contained a good knowledge of gnosticism, he also said some things that showed he was still learning. He certainly wasn't god incarnate, just a man who sought greater knowledge regarding the nature of reality, as opposed to the many who are mainly concerned with physical survival. He is said to have said that some in that generation would still be alive when he returned. It didn't happen people! READ your bible to find out that it is false.
