There is no downside to the gusher. The effort is to maintain Deep Water Horizon as a producing well, AND end up with 3 total producing wells. Other well will be blocked from drilling, so BP ends up with exclusive rights to a HUGE reservoir. The economic profit possibilities so heavily outweigh environmental impact, that there is no reason to plug the hemorrhage.

That's probably one of the worst ideas I've heard so far. First of all, dumping dirt into the ocean would likely mean it'd just spread around at the whim of the water. If it was lowered down to the hole, you'd need a massive delivery system beyond anything we even have so far. If you COULD get dirt on top of it, the pressure is simply going to blow it away. Try pouring a bucket of sand on a garden hose and see what happens. If it doesn't blow away, it'll eventually leak somewhere.

I disagree it was staged. There's no proof about it. Stocks were sold during the first 3 months of the year, not just before the incident like for 911. And there are many reasons that could justfy this selling, other institutions like UBS sold lots of BP stock. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, it would be suicidal if BP did that on purpose. Oil offshore exploration is going to take a HUGE hit from this. Government policies will now certainly change and take away lots of oil corporations privileges

There is no downside to the gusher. The effort is to maintain Deep Water Horizon as a producing well, AND end up with 3 total producing wells. Other well will be blocked from drilling, so BP ends up with exclusive rights to a HUGE reservoir. The economic profit possibilities so heavily outweigh environmental impact, that there is no reason to plug the hemorrhage.

I have a friend who's dad works in oil who has made and sold pipelines in iraq during the 80s. He said that every solution they've come up with to stop the leak (the top hat etc) don't work in theory, and wouldn't work in practice. He said someone is intentionally letting this get worse because someone is making a lot of money out of it, and someone is losing a lot of money.

I do not believe that the BP leak was intentional. I find it a little annoying that Alex spins SO many events into the "this was intentional" category it waters down the real hard info
if BP and the government could blame ANY outside force other than incompetence, corruption at the Minerals Management Service, etc then they would jump on the opportunity. Nobody would be on the hook for fines or criminal charges if they could spin this disaster into sabotage from some shadowy force

So what if it sold stock? Corporations trade large volume in stock all the time. Even if it sold 44% of the stock it still kept the other 56%. It didn't make money off the deal it just didn't lose money on 44% of their investment. Conspiracy theorists like you kids are hilarious.

...just freeze a dam plug in it, put a new valve in later; 100% guilty under strick liablity, so bp assest will need to be held in trust to couver the possilbe damages starting with a court orde rbased on a class action lawsuit against bp, also a court order to hold the insurance payments destine to bp for the same purpose, that money can be used as in trust to buy up the now idle competion that bp planed to buy up for dirt cheap during this crisis they made possilbe.

I have a hard time believing BP could feel it to be in it's own interest to destroy the Gulf of Mexico, no matter how much money they allegedly thought they could make from short term hedges. Also not convinced BP's goal is a one world government.

AKA- their sell of $262M value BP stock was 0.12% of their holdings.
If they had held on to BP, they would have lost ~$91M.
Their revenue was $51 Billion in 2009. If they had held on to BP instead of "conspiring" they would have taken an estimated hit of one tenth of 1 percent (0.1%) in 2010.

What a laugh...ROFL! It is impossible to hold the share price up while offloading such a large chunk of the company shares (44%). The BP share price was steady until the explosion. All short positions has to be reported to the exchange. You cant hide 44% short position. All BS reporting.

You people are idiots. Institutions are required to file their holdings with the SEC on a QUARTERLY basis, thus the 3/31/10 date that shows Goldman sold on the link provided. What that means is that at some point between Jan 1, 2010 and March 30, 2010 the shares were sold. Alex Jones is a jerk who misleads people.
