I'm a long time fan of MB, so when I discovered this on youtube, I immediately got excited. You guys and girls did really good. I have to disagree on some things, but that is probably, or it probably can not be anything else than, subjective perspective. Most of the close-ups were really good, you got the timeless beauty of that love 'sung about' in the song. I saw this like a lovechild between L.A. Confidential and Mulholland Drive.

May I ask what kind of camera you used to shoot this with? I ask because I assume in this day and age--with cost and convenience--it was digitally shot. However, this looks a heck of a lot better than many digitally shot things, which has me intrigued.

I'm not sure if we agree, as my opinions are pretty radical. Most people think that the most crystal clear sharp digital is best. I say that the HD stuff tends to be garish looking, making digital's lack of depth all the more apparent. So maybe the compression of this low-res upload in a way helps this fanvid, almost giving an illusion of depth (because the mind has to fill in the blanks.) Then again, maybe in its uncompressed version it still looks decent.

I've not found many people who agree with my thoughts that compression (and softness) might be beneficial to a picture, especially in the digital medium which lacks so many important qualities (life, depth) that film (and even videotape) used to have in spades.
