  • That's how you sing Some Enchanted Evening!!! It's meant for an operatic baritone and this guy does a great job.

  • @Basssinger86 It was originated by Enzio Pinzo who was a Bass. This guy does a great job. :)

  • ¿Y dónde está la diferencia de edad entre estos dos personajes que daba un rasgo tan peculiar e importante en esta relación?

  • 1:20:)

  • I love this presentation. The singers are good and the musicians are very good in their art. The music sounds just like the original in the movie.

  • And he is performing this same role in the West End.

  • We're very proud of him, here in Brazil.

  • Rodgers and Hammerstein were geniuses...and this incomparable show is one of the many they created. Some Enchanted Evening

  • One of the most magical and touching shows ever written. I wish somehow all the racist people that happen to be poisoning the world could see this show- if you didn't know, that is what this show is about. This song gives me the chills- there is no better way to express your love.

  • This song always makes me cry!

  • Wow. That was magical! Thanks.

  • Nada como homem com ombreiras,,,,

  • I am emile in my school play and im 12

  • He's not old enough

  • Does anyone know where i can get a download of this song for free? I need it for school

  • If I could have any wish come true it would be to sing Nellie on Broadway...but opposite Paulo, no one else...

  • I just adore Paulo's voice :)

  • Okay... So i saw the performance of this on PBS... and before I watched it, I was sad it was closing... because, come on! It's South Pacific! But.. I was like "Understandable... sort of..." Then I watched it and was like "WHAT!? WHY IS IT CLOSING!!!!"

  • I loved that wonderfull thank you

  • This performance on The View was so well staged with the strings and other instruments showing while the performers were singing. I love the way Kelli and Paulo stay in character after finishing with the affectionate and passionate kisses...too bad Joy ruined the moment with her tawdry comments. Kelli and Paulo are very classy and are a credit to their profession, showing the proper reverence for the material they have been blessed with. I hope they will grace the NY stage in the near future!

  • @MsBroadwayFan : "Joy ruined the moment with her tawdry comments."

I appreciate the View's director/producer great credit for presenting this performance and compliment their beautiful staging.

Having said that, I can see that their talent is wasted on "The View", a program that is the "Jersey Shore" of talk shows.

Joy is the 'Snookie' of 'The View'. Sorry, that's an insult to Snookie...

  • absolutely beatiful :')

  • Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein were geniuses Their body of work is astounding: Oklahoma, South Pacific, etc! This song is one of the most beautiful ever written. Beautifully performed by Me. Szot and Ms O Hara

  • These are the songs I grew up with, romantic parents from that era. An he brings chills and tears like Ezio Pinza did...

  • Kelli O'Hara is perfection.

  • BEAUTIFUL.

  • aah, so lovely...

  • Could I get some help, PLEASE? I remember hearing Alan Alda singing this, then a dog howls the last note. Where do I remember THIS?

  • woah this guys so good

  • I'm glad the vulgar Joy Behar had the decency to wait til the end before she said "You need to get a room!"

Like the old song says, leave a tender moment alone.

  • @joeparkson Aw, she's a comedian, comedians aren't funny unless they're vulgar.

  • They perform this duet beautifully. Hollywood should remake the movie with box office superstars who can't sing (like they usually do) and have these two dub their singing voices.

  • @roccoh21 Actually, this scene is a duet. I've seen a production where Emile and Nellie sing Some Enchanted Evening, not the whole thing, but a small reprise of the song.

  • I <3 Paolo so much... I saw South Pacific a few weeks ago... the name of the Emile in it now escapes me... but he was also amazing!!!

  • Maybe you're right, thechinadesk, sorry.

  • Kelli O'Hara and baritone Paulo Szot made a good job on the Broadway indeed...won the Tony Award 2008 ! The Rodgers and Hammerstein's wonderful revival on "South Pacific ". You said "french accent " ? He's Brazilian !

  • Dear MrGunterguerrero,

alexclark20 probably meant the French accent Szot was affecting for the role.

The character Emile is a French plantation owner.

  • Saw this guy in the summer in New York. I don't know if I like the french accent in there.

  • saw them in december. just a fantastic performance.

  • I was enjoying it, until Joy Behar ruined it.

  • Reminding me... I love Broadway!

  • Szot is reasonably good, but he is no Ezio Pinza. Pinza sang on Broadway at the end of his career, but much of his voice remained intact. He is one of the two or three great bassos of the twentieth century.

I urge to hear the original cast recording with Pinza and Mary Martin, who is much better than O'Hara.

  • Dear Allan,

Szot did a surprisingly good job on "This Nearly Was Mine."

But for some mysterious reason his rendition of "Some Enchanted Evening" is noticeably inferior.

I'm not sure why. They're both in the same vocal range. He should have been either good on both or bad on both. Not good on one and not so good on the other.

    Go figure.

  • This is probably one of the best love songs ever witen

  • Man oh Man! This was a Performance.

    Thank you for uploading.

    This was simply beautiful!

    Joseph F.

  • I was fortunate to see a full performance of this musical at a theater in the Hawaiian Islands. I prefer Mitzi Gaynor to any of the others, except I'm kind of hung up on the young actress and singer who starred in the version I saw in Hawaii.

    @kyleorlando

    Thank-you for posting this.

  • I never thought anyone could equal Mary or Mitzi - but damn me if Kelli hasn't done it. She's absolutely magnificent.

  • saw it over the summer it was great

my high school is doing SP this year

    cant wait

  • If you like this, you should see it live - it's incredible

  • So interesting you say that...I have seen it 4 times...once with Kelli and 3 times with Laura. I really like Laura...I just wish she would project better...she is great. My biggest love is William Michals in the role of Emile instead of Paulo!

  • im singing this for a show on July 26th .... im debating on posting it on here or not ... ill see how good i do :) hahaa

  • They just made a new movie with Glenn Close and Harry Connick Jr. It did not do well lol

  • great song.

the movie industry should really consider making south pacific into a movie...i think there is an older version...but a new one with more clarity would be nicer. :)

  • i love this song

  • WOW!!!!!!!!! Why does he not singing around the world in all the best theaters? Wonderful, in the best traditions of the past!

  • @Desideria7 he does.

  • @Desideria7 He is performing at the Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Opera, and will be appearing at the Paris Opera in June 2011.

  • Well if this isn't reason to come to NYC and catch this historic revival, I dunno what is. It's absolutely brilliant. It's just perfect. Memorizing. Thanks so much for posting!

  • she did the pajama game with harry connick jr for a bit

  • stunning.

  • The two of them were amazing!
